It is exciting to see so much good news about UKIP. Maybe Britain is awakening after all.
First, these defections in South Tyneside have made UKIP the second largest party (the Official Opposition) in the county:
Intriguing news from South Tyneside, with the announcement that three independent councillors on the town council have crossed the floor to join the UK Independence Party (Ukip).
On Friday morning Ukip’s deputy leader Paul Nuttall travelled to South Shields to meet his new councillors: George Elsom, Steve Harrison and Linda Hemmer.
The move means Ukip will become the official opposition in the Labour stronghold.
Labour has almost all the councillors (47 of 54) in this county. But it is encouraging that now UKIP can present an alternative view of governing locally. If they can successfully do so, maybe there can be a change.
In Scotland, UKIP has done poorly in the past. But that may change. (Thanks to Mike Scott-Hayward, UKIP’s Scotland Chairman, for this in a general tweet he sent out)
UKIP’s Chairman in Scotland, Mike Scott-Hayward, has welcomed an Evening Express poll in Abredeen which shows UKIP ahead of the Liberal Democrats, and just a neck behind the Labour and the Conservatives.
“The poll shows the SNP 35.7%, Conservative 11.9%, Labour 11.9%, Labour 10.3%, UKIP 8.7% and Liberal Democrats 4.8%.
I see the threat of the EU superempire beginning to show. There appears to be the beginning of a political realignment in the United Kingdom. UKIP’s fight is our fight.
