MORE FALLOUT FROM UKIP MORAL VICTORY IN BARNSLEY CENTRAL!

The UKIP is the clear press winner, even though it finished a poor second behind Labour in this Yorkshire riding. But, although there are few if any moral victories in politics, this is looking more and more like an important, perhaps watershed moment for the libertarian, anti-EU party.

The blog Archbishop Cranmer exults:  Barnsley by-election a triumph for UKIP

But the real story, ignored by much of the media and downplayed where it is mentioned, is that UKIP came second: that is the real headline.

The Mirror agreed:

The coalition was dealt a major by-election blow today as the Liberal Democrats finished a woeful sixth place and the Tories were overtaken by the UK Independence Party (Ukip).

The Guardian wrote that the UKIP is popular in the pubs in Barnsley:
The BNP and Ukip are increasingly forces to be reckoned with as vehicles for protest votes in ex-mining communities such as Barnsley. The BNP doubled its share of the vote to 8.9% on 6 May last year, but Ukip, whose posters are plentiful in pubs, hopes to overtake it this time.

I would add that this is more than a protest vote; it’s a sign that liberty is taking root in the UK!  Their fight is our fight.  My question:  Where is the UK’s Ron Paul?
