Here’s the voice of the neo-con warmongers: The Weekly Standard. Edited in part by Bill Kristol, who once said that you were not a true conservative if you did not support the war in Kosovo (where our NATO sock puppet attacked a sovereign nation for no reason); of course, the true conservatives OPPOSED that war.
Now the nation of choice to be attacked for no reason is Syria. The Standard calls for the American people and decision makers to unite behind Sen. John McCain (and of course Senators Lieberman and Graham) and go to war with Syria:
With his Senate colleagues Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham, McCain released a statement calling for “relief from Assad’s tank and artillery sieges. . . . Providing military assistance to the Free Syrian Army and other opposition groups is necessary, but as Assad continues to intensify his assault, that alone will not be sufficient to stop the slaughter and save innocent lives. The only realistic way to do so is with foreign airpower.” The three senators realize that this “will first require the United States and our partners to suppress the Syrian regime’s air defenses in at least part of the country.”
Here’s the arrogance of the senior senator of Arizona:
As usual, the administration had excuses for inaction. “That air defense system,” Panetta told the Senate, “is pretty sophisticated.” According to the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Martin Dempsey, it is “approximately five times more sophisticated . . . than existed in Libya.”
McCain bristled. “We spend almost $1 trillion a year on the military,” he told CNN’s Anderson Cooper. “And we can’t take out air defenses of Syria? That is an horrific waste of the taxpayers’ dollars.”
No the horrific waste of taxpayers’ dollars is the numerous interventions where, as Cong. Paul put it, “We just plain don’t mind our own business!” It’s a horrific waste of the lives of young American men and women, fathers and mothers, husbands, wives, sons and daughters. There are many families in this nation with an empty seat at the table because of unnecessary interventions.
I am fed up! If you are in a state where you have not voted yet: Vote Ron Paul. Whether or not a primary or caucus has occurred, be ready if President Obama decides that the UN or some other unconstitutional source of “authority” gives him power to attack Syria without congressional consent. Be ready to protest hard. Signs up at say the TV and radio stations, public buildings, and maybe other places. Time to peacefully protest. No one’s kids should go to war when it is not necessary. Let’s mind our own business.
