NDAA mentioned on PRIME TIME TELEVISION SHOW Tuesday night! GOOD or BAD?

NCIS/LA is one of the leading television shows in prime time.  It comes on Tuesdays at 9 pm Eastern time on CBS.  Here’s the latest episode that has the offending dialogue.  Look at about 33 minutes through 34:30.

To summarize:  A domestic terrorism suspect within the USA who is presumably a US citizen and the courts are open of course still in the US is told by the NCIS/LA team that he must talk or he will be sent to Gitmo.  When the hapless suspect says he has the right to remain silent, the lead interrogator told him that there is the National Defense Authorization Act.   Try this out (approximate dialogue):

“There’s your mentor, getting himself a new identity.  Just like he did four years.  He’ll be sitting pretty while you rot away at Gitmo.”

“You can’t do that!”

“Apparently Professor Hale didn’t teach you about current events.  You should read the National Defense Authorization Act.”

“You can’t do that!”

“Still want to exercise your right to remain silent?”

Of course the unconstitutional actions of the NCIS team (The old NCIS team led by Jethro Gibbs trampled on rights regularly, too) solves a heinous crime before it occurs.

But I suggest three things:

1.  The liberty activist can now say to his or her friends:  See – it’s even used in entertainment!  The NDAA is real.

2.  It is apparent that our TV shows are paving the way for the police state as a good thing.  We must fight this time with our own entertainment – see my posting on the NO movie.

3.  Finally, there was something that could have been done about outrages like this:  He was on your ballot in the GOP primary in your state in 2012 but alas people were scared away from Ron Paul to the statist alternative, whether Romney or Obama.  (I know many of my readers did NOT make that mistake!)  Let’s not make that error again.  It might be too late.

  1. […] The Constitution (What’s that again, Sandy?  It’s that document repudiated Tuesday on NCIS/LA!) prohibits titles of nobility.  How can a young basketball player aspire to represent his nation […]
