We can now officially pronounce the Obama apology tour a failure. During the presidential campaign, Obama told his followers that he would restore America’s reputation in the world to favorable. He believes that under President Bush, our reputation and the world’s opinion of us has suffered because Bush was a bully, causing the world to hate us.
Obama and the liberal apologists seem to want to forget that during the Clinton error when we were “loved” by the world, we suffered six “love” attacks:
February 26, 1993 – New York City – First World Trade Center bombing.
April 19, 1995 – Oklahoma City Bombing: Federal building bombed by Timothy McVeigh
June 25, 1996 Dhahran, Saudi Arabia: truck bomb exploded outside Khobar Towers military complex, killing 19 American servicemen and injuring hundreds of others
Aug. 7, 1998 Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: truck bombs exploded almost simultaneously near 2 U.S. embassies, killing 224 (213 in Kenya and 11 in Tanzania) and injuring about 4,500.
Oct. 12, 2000 Aden, Yemen: U.S. Navy destroyer USS Cole heavily damaged when a small boat loaded with explosives blew up alongside it. 17 sailors killed.
The only terror attack under Bush was the 9/11/2001 attack. Bush struck back with such a ferocious response that terrorists realized they had made a grave mistake rattling America with such a bold attack. No additional attacks took place. Aggressive policies and a big stick brought respect to the US out of fear, or at least the realization this is not a country to be trifled with.
But Obama does not want that kind of respect. He wants respect based on a positive image of America. An admirable and lofty goal. But totally unrealistic. The Arab world will only respect us under two conditions:
1. We are strong and willing to use our force if necessary.
2. We convert to Islam and reject Israel’s right to exist.
The actions by Iran and most of the other countries of the world support the position that respect for the United States will only come from total capitulation to the rest of the world, giving up US sovereignty and handing over all decisions to the rest of the world. In other words, they will only be our friend when they are able to dominate us. Equal is not even good enough.
The Obama apologies have done nothing to strengthen our position in the favors of the world, but have most certainly eroded our respect. The rest of the world sees a weak man in charge of a powerful country. Inexperienced in being a leader and inexperienced in dealing with other leaders. North Korea knows that when Obama was elected, the last tooth fell from the mouth of the United Nations, an organization consumed with internal corruption and a mission to bring down it’s largest benefactor, the US.
Israel plays nice, but ignored Obama. They are convinced that allowing a weak man such as Obama to take the lead in keeping Israel safe will surely lead to their own destruction at the hands of Arab extremists.
It is time to commit to funding our military and move back to the tried and true methods of being respected: earn it. Weakness under Clinton was rewarded with six attacks, and the 9/11 attack was planned during the Clinton presidency. When the terrorists smell weakness, they move in.
