Obama’s Ebola Czar a Political Operative by John Pride

Democrat political operative Ron Klain has been named as Obama’s “Ebola Czar”. He has never run a hospital, never been a doctor, and has no basic medical logistics knowledge to apply to this critical task. My objection to this appointment is supported by literally every other position to which Mr. Klain has been appointed. They were positions in which his political connections, loyalty to the Democrat party, and a strong willingness to do anything necessary to further and to provide cover for the liberal cause were absolutely essential. I believe it’s fair to say that this appointment is based upon exactly those qualifications, because he has no other resume bullet points to bring to this specific effort.

Just as CDC Director Dr. Frieden was ordered to consider the economic impact upon “emerging democracies” when weighing his response to this nation’s challenge, Mr. Klain will surely have his own marching orders, which will apply little or none to the medical and epidemiological problems faced by his fellow citizens.

Ideology is rarely sacrificed to fact by this president, and a possible Ebola outbreak is no exception. When Obama stated that he has “no ideological” opposition to a travel ban, he was either lying or criminally uninformed. I say this because the reason that this African Ebola outbreak is worse than previous outbreaks is due to increased mobility from villages to cities. A 9/5/14 NPR article asserts that Africa has become more like first-world western countries in this respect, and that that “changing face” has very much complicated the efforts of those who respond to such emergencies.

So, by not restricting travel, both to and within the US, and by not initially being prepared to handle the certainty of an infected person coming to America, aren’t we actually doing the same thing (as West Africa experienced) again, and demanding different results? Isn’t that defining insanity, at a potentially high human price?

I’d hoped that Obama would back away from his greater concern for “fledgling democracies” over American lives. I’d thought that one of a few military/civilian leaders, someone with actual medical, logistical and related experience, as well as characteristics including leadership experience, independent thought and action.. but who are we kidding? We no longer live in America, but a propagandized Progressive America. For now, at least, that is our greatest challenge.

Ron Klain could well surprise me, but my instinct is that he’s been told this: “This will very likely get worse and then some, so your job is to arrange it so that we can blame the GOP for budget cuts, the hospitals for being careless, and to dismiss all dissenters as racist, hating, knuckle-draggers. That works every time. You are also directed to shift attention away from restricting any travel, to obscure and dismiss details regarding the NIH budget being used for foolish grants versus preparing for any possible pandemic, and the absolute lack of intelligent focus and leadership by the man who may well be able to assign you to a cherry UN position, in just a few short years. Are we clear?” I sadly imagine this being Klain’s response: “Mr. President, I was already in sync, believe me.”

I hope I’m wrong, that this isn’t something as bad, and being handled as cynically, as I fear. Yet, with names such as Bill Frist, Tad Allen, and Ben Carson not even making the list, I’ll keep my few remaining hopes to myself.
