In keeping with the Sanders Olympic Policy (as a protest against sports imperialism and to remind us here in USA how good we have it) we have a nation who won their first medal at any Olympic Games – and this nation did it in style: They won gold! That’s right! Gold for Kosovo.
It is also a bit ironic that it is the Republic of Kosovo – yes you are right. It is indeed. But I do support the right to self-determination of any people group as long as they seek it peacefully. So, no politics here today! But I must tell you I once was shown what must be a six story poster in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo of the President of the United States in 1999: Yes, Bill Clinton! Here’s a photo of a statute of Clinton on Bill Clinton Boulevard! [Might like this first photo here better of the same statute] Here’s a report about how Hillary Clinton found a store named after her in the capital city!)
But let’s stop scaring people. You can see coverage of the win here (thanks to Haaretz and France 24) But I am afraid no Yanni this time.
Here it is as promised the national anthem of the Republic of Kosovo. Let’s send it out to Majlinda Kelmendi, who will surely be a national hero(ine) after this win. Congrats to you and to Kosovo.
