It happens every year! The First Thursday in May – this year May 2 – the National Day of Prayer is proclaimed by Congress.
There is a local Mechanicsville event at the Historic Polegreen Church at 530 pm. It started because the Hanover Church of the Nazarene was looking for a site for their NDP and Sandy Sanders thought it would be great to have a prayer time at the Historic Polegreen Church – where Patrick Henry worshipped as a little boy. The Foundation was glad to partner with that effort for a community event. Rev. Samuel Davies was one of the first licensed pastors in colonial Virginia not affiliated with the Church of England (Davies was Presbyterian) and he came to pastor a small group of dissenters in Hanover County. They eventually met at the site of the Polegreen Church (Here’s the website for the Historic Polegreen Church Foundation.) now found just off of Rural Point Road in Mechanicsville.
I would say come out and pray! If you don’t like what’s going on in Richmond or Washington DC, talk to the Boss! We need revival in this nation. Let’s stand the in gap for our nation, its leaders, first responders, the media, our troops and education. The speakers slated are solid local pastors, leaders and elected officials.
