I had a nice article written about my thoughts about the next Pope and I think the Holy Spirit said: I wouldn’t do that. So, trying to be obedient, I discarded it. (For the record, I like the cardinal from Hungary and for former secretary of Pope John Paul II, now the Archbishop of Krakow or most if not all of the African cardinals! I think that the chances of me working for ICLEI are better than an American Pope being elected.)
But I think Gary Bauer (who I do not agree about Ron Paul hardly at all but who I admire very much) says it well in his End of Day Report for yesterday:
The leaders of the Catholic Church are gathered in Rome this week to select the next pope. Some of my fellow evangelicals may be inclined to feel that they do not have a horse in this race, or some may be dwelling on the doctrinal differences between Catholics and Evangelicals. But I am praying that the cardinals have great success.
Western Civilization is in grave danger. It is under attack from radical secularism and from radical Islam. I think that anyone who cares about Christendom should pray that this selection is done with God-given wisdom and that the next pope will continue to aggressively defend Judeo-Christian civilization as the last two popes have done.
I am praying and I will try to be out at the Capitol praying for many things waving the state flag as I always do and today’s flag is the Vatican City flag! If you see me – pray a lap with me!
