Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals states:
“Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.
Right now, the most important thing is to rip this horrendous law right out of the books. Like removing a band-aid. Not a slow, agonizing effort. But a rapid yank. Obamacare is killing us.
Early this morning, the Republicans voted 51-48 to begin the process of dismantling and defunding the bill the Democrats thrust on America. They claim that more people have coverage now than before the law. How wonderful. They totally destroyed in Health Insurance Industry and now force people to buy insurance and give massive subsidies to lower income individuals. Did we really have to use a nuclear bomb on healthcare to get more people covered?
Absolutely not! Those of us that had coverage have seen our premiums go up by orders of magnitude as the cost of Obamacare and the Medicaid expansions is subsidized by us. The workers and the taxpayers.
Obamacare may have made insurance affordable for a few low income people, but Obamacare has done nothing but force the taxpayers and the America workers and employers to pay healthcare premiums for others. Democrats destroyed the best healthcare system in the world in the process of forcing working class Americans to subsidize insurance for the poor.
Unfortunately, many of the working class make too much to receive a subsidy and too little to afford the massive increases we have seen – caused by Obamacare. So the idle poor enjoy free or nearly free healthcare at the expense of many who were struggling without government assistance just to pay for a roof and food.
And the ultimate fate of Obamacare, if left in place, will be to make healthcare unaffordable for everyone. Even the subsidized class who are even now finding out that low premiums are great, but the high deductibles make the insurance worthless.
So let’s let the Democrats fight against a ghost until Obamacare is dead and buried. Then we can put the replacement in place. Remember, we had to pass Obamacare to find out what was in it. So we need to repeal it see what the replacement will be.
Once the Republicans push out a plan, it will become the target for Democrats to do what they always do – obstruct.
And there is also the reality that if Republicans are allowed to linger and ponder something, we will be looking at a midnight deadline and America always gets screwed when Congress procrastinate.
Get rid of Obamacare now. Or we never will.
