I could hardly believe the headline in the Richmond Times-Dispatch today:
“Rep. Scott Favors Letting All Tax Cuts Expire”
(This is the online headline, for the record) This means Representative Scott, the representative from the Third Congressional District, favors raising taxes for many in his district. Tax brackets will go up, credits will go down. Less for family budgets and more for government. Rep. Scott tried to argue that the “saved” money go to deficit relief; I hardly can give credit for fiscal discipline to one who voted for Obamacare, cap and trade and the stimulus.
I say it with all due respect for his office but Rep. Scott is out of touch with his constituents’ needs. Thankfully, the voters in the Third District have a choice this year: Chuck Smith. Smith’s comments on Scott’s proposed tax hike for most in his district are very different. Here’s the Times-Dispatch article on Smith’s response. Highlights:
“True compassion to the poor is to let more money stay with its earners, thereby giving instant stimulus so the poor can be hired,” Smith said.
Support Chuck Smith; if enough people check their wallet and ask themselves how much they should keep it in, they can vote for a real change: Chuck Smith for Congress.
