Russ Wright Defeats Nancy Russell 57% – 43% for Hanover Republican Committee Chairman

Russ Wright, a Libertarian leaning Republican challenged Hanover County Republican Committee Chairman Nancy Russell for her seat as Chairman of the Hanover Republican Committee and came away with a 57% to 43% victory over Russell. The final tally was 168 for Wright and 129 for Russell.

It is not a secret in Hanover County or Central Virginia for that matter that I am pleased almost beyond words to purge the last remaining vestiges of former Congressman Eric Cantor’s party support structure from the old 7th District. Part of the glue that held Cantor’s power empire together was the fealty paid by the local District and County leadership structure. Despite the very Conservative nature of the 7th District, a small handful of Committee Chairs and the District Chair held the strings of power and tilted the machine towards Eric Cantor and those he favored. But one by one they have been defeated as the Great RINO – Conservative War waged on.

The first domino to fall was Linwood Cobb, the Chairman of the 7th Congressional District and Eric Cantor’s right hand man in his home district. Fred Gruber landed the first punch that started the dominoes on their way. When Gruber won, many of us realized that Eric Cantor himself was vulnerable. Gruber pulled off an upset the likes of which have never been seen in the 7th District.

And shortly afterwards, Dave Brat knocked off Cantor himself. And the earth shook. And suddenly, Fred Gruber’s win was no longer an anomaly, but it was the defining moment when the mood of the people manifested itself in a real, tangible way. This was not an accident, but the beginning of something huge happening, not just in Central Virginia, but in the entire nation. A massive awakening was happening and the epicenter was Hanover County, birthplace of none other than Patrick Henry.

For far too long the political class has been ruling the people. And that is not how it works in America. Of the people. For the people. And By the people.

The power structure of Eric Cantor’s kingdom was by and large the three big counties surrounding Richmond, Va. Hanover, Henrico and Chesterfield. And this was the bulk of the 7th District. And Cantorite Don Williams ruled the Chesterfield Republican Committee, Don Boswell ruled Henrico and Nancy Russell, Hanover. They reported to Linwood Cobb who took marching orders from Cantor.

Boswell stepped down as Henrico Chairman, and has perhaps reformed himself a bit. Don Williams did the same in Chesterfield. But Nancy Russell insisted on trying to maintain power in Hanover – and was soundly defeated tonight.

While it would be an error to believe that the Cantor machine has been powered down, there is no doubt it has been damaged severely. Because the power has been cut by several orders of magnitude. And the new court ruling that moved Hanover from the 7th District to the 1st played a part in altering the makeup of the 7th District power structure. With the removal of Hanover and the addition of other areas, the Cantor RINO’s no longer had a majority on the Executive Committees, the Conservatives do. Which may have played a part in Williams and Boswell stepping down as unit chairs.

With Hanover now a part of the 1st District, we now have Rob Whittman as our Congressman. There is no way around admitting Whitman is establishment. Nancy Russell would have easily been in Whitman’s pocket as readily as she was in Cantor’s. So this County Chair election will have a major impact on Whittman. Scuttlebutt is that Whittman is considering running for Governor next year. But now he has a whole new lineup to consider. The very Conservative Hanover County is now a major player in the 1st District and Whittman is unknown to most in Hanover and for those that know him and his record, the reviews are not good.

But the changing of the guard in Hanover has huge ramifications for the 1st District. The automatic seats that go to unit chairs on the District Executive Committee will not be establishment RINO seats now.

So will Hanover lead the way in sending Dave Brat some help and retiring Whittman (assuming he does not run for Governor next year)? I think it may be too early to see the new members make such an impact that soon.

But Whittman must know he is on a short leash.

And let me just give some credit to a friend and fellow grassroots brother in arms John Dixon. He started a Facebook Group that has climbed to nearly 2,500 members. He named several of us as Administrators and the reach and audience of this group played a huge roll in getting the voters to come out tonight and support Russ Wright. The reach and power of this group cannot be underestimated.

And there are a few politicians that are in the cross-hairs that represent Hanover locally and at the state level who ought to be very concerned with the mood of the voters in Hanover. More jobs are on the line. We are watching and discussing your votes. It is all being documented and cataloged. The radar is high and it is low. You can no longer fly under the radar. The landscape has changed. And it reflects the sour mood on the American people who are no longer going to tolerate deception.

One thing is for sure. More politicians who were planning on long careers at the government trough better be looking for new careers. And ask Cantor. Money won’t save you.

Congrats to Russ Wright and the Conservative movement. Well done!

Robert Joseph “Rob” Wittman is the U.S. Representative for Virginia’s 1st congressional district and correct spelling. Just an FYI. Great article and I am so excited the tidal wave in the Richmond area and hopefully the rest of the Commonwealth

  2. Congratulations Hanover, Russ, John Dixon and VA RIGHT! You have RIGHTED a WRONG, one more to go! Your assessment of Rob Wittman is spot on: dismal voting record. His job with DEQ, and the indoctriNation associated with their regulations “allegedly” about protecting the environment, has blinded him to the tyranny of government confiscation of land use: UN Ag21. I have begged him to stand FOR individual property rights in Mathews County and gave me names of folks who have been falsely accused of violating mother earth! I have given him lots of documentation including “Sustainable Development, Sustainable Freedom” and UN Ag21 and You, to NO concern by him. You cannot help the citizens if you support government tyranny! So thankful for and to all that sacrificed to right this wrong!

Tom, thanks for all you John and Daryl do on a daily basis keeping the fire warm ! Would loved to have been able to join you guys for a brew after but left with fingers crossed before the count came in.
I worked a campaign table at the State Fairgrounds during the Gillespie for Senate race with Russ and came away very impressed with his political views and know we are in good hands-Even though he had me blowing up balloons for Rand !

    Congratulations Russ

Not to be too much of a grave dancer, but let’s see what kind of a looser is Nancy Russell, a gracious one or sore one.

Nancy supported donor class candidates ( Cobb, Cantor, Gillespie ) to the exclusion of the middle class. I believe Shak Hill could have beaten the empty suit Mark Warner. Shak has passion and radiates an innate honesty. Gillespie and Warner ( two sides of the same coin ) couldn’t inspire a little league baseball team.

Gillespie and Romney were/are typical establishment candidates. They are so removed from the middle class that they will never convincingly relate. Their campaign promises sound hollow. They sold themselves only as better than Demos. People who support Donald Trump stayed home for Romney and Gillespie.

Conservative talking heads are wrong about Trump supporters. They claim that Tea Party folks are not included because we support “true” conservatives ( a label corrupted by the likes of Rubio, Bush, Kasich, Krauthammer and Cruz, given his fondness for the CFR ). Wrong. Middle America, of which the Tea Party is a part, has been betrayed, over and over, by Establishment Republicans, who have had, since Reagan, decades to repair the southern border. It is still wide open.

Preserving language, borders and culture is what conservative means to me. Despite his gaffs, I believe Donald Trumps holds that same value. Establishment Republicans, like Nancy Russell, embrace winning. If they embraced preserving language, borders and culture, winning would be the happy byproduct.

The best news to come out of Hanover County in years-

Chickahominy Supervisor Angela Kelly Wiecek is no longer on the Hanover GOP Executive Committee- the Bill Bolling- Bob Setliff control of the Republican Committee for the Eric Cantor Mafia has been broken by the conservatives and the Anti- Development Movement in Hanover County.

    Way to go!

    • Stop Developing Hanover County says:

Obviously missing from the crowd last night? PRO DEVELOPMENT REPUBLICAN SUPERVISORS Wayne Hazzard, Canova Peterson, and Sean Davis who eat at the trough of the developer-donor class.

They must have gotten the MEMO…….. from the Grassroots-

      • Rick Ryan says:

Bravo. Don’t exclude the rest of the Supervisors and County staff who are also pro growth at any cost. Mr. affordable workforce housing Peterson lead cash proffer removal, future and retroactive !!! Admittedly, at $19k per dwelling unit they were gargantuan, but cash proffers slow development by making developers think twice about profitability. Revision of the zoning ordinance ( 2013 or 2014 ) was the next plum for developers. The residential districts ( R1 to R4 ) were reduced to RS and RM, removing at least lip service to harmonious transitions. The Comp. Plan mentions harmonious transitions as a goal, but empowering language is absent the Zoning Ordinance. Now developers can build anything next to anything. Hello developers, welcome to $Hanover, haven to high density projects.

    • Colette P. says:

      YES LIBERTY-

THE CANTORITES AND THE MCGUIRE WOODS LOBBYISTS AND THE MAFIA MUST BE DEFEATED IN HENRICO AND CHESTERFIELD COUNTIES’ UPCOMING MASS MEETINGS.

  7. Mark Latham says:

The Hanover Courthouse Mafia run by the DEVELOPERS and all the elected officials past and present had to perform “the walk of shame” down the isle last night in front of 300 people to cast their ballots for DEFEATED Chairman Nancy Russell.

The voters of Hanover County will remember those faces for a LONG TIME.

    • Calvin Streeter says:

      MARK-

The Hanover Republican Party has been controlled by Bill Bolling- Ryan McDougle, The Frank Hargrove et al crowd run by Dale Alderman to keep their POWER on the Board of Supervisors, Angela Kelly Wiecek and Bob Setliff for Chris Peace crowd and the Middle Resolution Bob Bailie- Brenda Eggleston developers for years-

They LOST IT All last night.

      Rest in Peace.

  8. Orange is the New Black says:

The Cantor VCN Network was present last night- Alec Thomas from Chesterfield – Head Mobster for the Cantorites- was there to oversee Mrs. Russell’s Coronation for “The DON” from Chesterfield- Don Williams.

On to the Henrico GOP elections next to defeat Eddie Whitlock and the Sioban Stolle – Dunnivant Mafia….. from VA BEACH.

  9. Gene M. says:

As an observer with a front row seat to the best show in Virginia last night, let me tell you- they never saw it coming.

Angela Kelly Wiecek and Nancy Russell and Chris Peace were stunned at their defeat.
You have to ask yourself WHY THEY PUT SO MUCH INTO THIS CONTEST? only to lose it.

You can bet the Hanover Courthouse Mafia is Meeting in Secret today for their After Action Review.
    Whiskey Tango Foxtrot happened?

  10. George from Henrico says:

THAT CANTOR CREEP TODD VANDER POL SENT OUT A LETTER TO 500 OF HIS CUSTOMERS ENDORSING NANCY RUSSELL AND THEN DIDN’T SHOW UP TO VOTE FOR HER?

    WTF

  11. Orange Jumpsuits says:

Chickahominy Supervisor Angela Kelly Wiecek and EX CHAIRWOMAN Nancy Russell were seen photographing the Credentialed List of voters with their I PHONES. to send to whom?

Now why would they do that after their defeat? Hmmm???

Creating a Hit List? to send to the Cantor MAFIA?

The list of Missing Republican Supervisors is very interesting……..

    • Delta Force says:

Chairwoman Nancy Russell should be cautious copying the list of voters to analyze it for the 40 votes who defeated her or to demand a \”do over vote.\”

South Anna ( Elmont) Developer Extraordinaire Brenda Eggleston had a Faye Pritchard ( Democrat for Ashland Supervisor) campaign sign on her Property last FALL- instead of one supporting the Republican Webb Stokes. YES INDEED.

Brenda Hopkins Eggleston is a former board member of the Middle Resolution Pac and like Founder Developer in Chief of Hanover County Bob Bailie, she supported Democrat John Gordon over the Republican candidate for South Anna Supervisor in 2011-they both wrote letters to the Editors of the newspapers for their DEVELOPER Supervisor John Gordon, Democrat. Frank Bradley, co-founder of the Middle Resolution Pac was also present for the vote Thursday night- for Mrs. Russell.

Developer and PROFFER QUEEN Emma Lee Mitchell who is an OLD DEMOCRAT was there for the Republican vote, too. Hanover County Board of Supervisors Chairman Buckey Stanley who is earning a fortune cutting timber in Hanover due to all the development he oversees was there to vote for Mrs. Russell.

Nancy Russell may have dragged out the Democrats to VOTE FOR HER for Chairman of the Republican Party of Hanover County.

Be careful what you go looking for Mrs. Russell- be a good loser.

    • Name Dropper says:

Are you recommending Russ Wright voters install security cameras on their properties?

After all Hanover County Commonwealth Attorney Trip Chalkely and his Posse of courthouse workers along with Sheriff Dave Hines and the NEXT Sherriff of Hanover County Alan Davidson ( Stuart Cook\’s protege) were present to vote.

Now why would they show up with their DEVELOPER DONORS to vote for Nancy Russell?

Kirby Porter and Matt Geary – May they REST IN PEACE.

      • Scribe says:

That\’s \”Posse Comitatus\” for you lesser educated people who didn\’t learn LATIN in Chris Peace\’s class at St. Christopher\’s.

  12. Goober says:

The winning team showed up with the best lawyers in the grassroots movement in Virginia’s Republican Party.

The losing team showed up with their lawyers- corrupt politicians and elected officials.

That was the picture of the night.

    • Gaylord says:

The losing team brought in the VCN and RPV lawyers and Team Cantor to oversee the vote.

When Mrs. Russell waltzed in thinking she had it in the bag she saw Steve Albertson and smirked \” Tea Party\” to her comrades.

Funny- Mrs. Russell has a massive Yellow Gadsen Flag flying from her front porch of her Mc Mansion.

Just goes to show what a HYPOCRIT she is……..

  13. Gomer says:

    Goober-

Did you see the room filled with Supervisor Donor- Developers for Nancy Russell who never lift a finger at election time to actually work for the GOP? never buy a table for the Reagan Day Dinner? or work for the party at county events? Yet have their hands out for donations when running for office? Buckey Stanley? Emma Lee Mitchell? and many others? Did you see that? WE ALL DID…….
