I know my politics might be quirky.  I came up with a new term for me:  multi-partisan!  But if there is no GOP candidate, I feel freer to cross the aisle so to speak and I plan to do it again in a personal endorsement:  Melvin L. Todd, Jr. for Richmond Clerk of the Court.

I talked with Todd Tuesday May 3 for the first time but what I had heard about him before was positive.  Todd is a good acquaintance of one I respect greatly, Regie Ford, and (here it comes! The disclaimer!) he also is a client of my employer, Lantagne Legal Printing.

Todd is an attorney in private practice who was an assistant public defender.  He believes in indigent defense and will work for that.  I also believe he will work to bring in technology to the clerk’s office.  Many aspects of the duties of the Clerk of the Court favor having an attorney hold the office.  He or she has to make sure official records are maintained according to law.

Yes Todd is so-called progressive but this is not a liberal-conservative type job he is running for.  Only a handful of people will vote Tuesday in the Democratic primary in the city.  Those that do should vote Todd Tuesday.

BTW, ANYONE can vote in ANY primary!  More on that
