I have decided to endorse in the January 7 special election the Republican, out going Roanoke City Sheriff Octavia Johnson for Delegate.  This is not yet a blog endorsement.

Here’s Sheriff Johnson’s webpage.

I think that if she is elected delegate, Sheriff Johnson will be a major player in the GOP.  I am willing to take a chance on her and see.  I am concerned that her website has no issues cited but her record of accomplishment is very impressive. Here’s one or two items I especially like:

  • Created a Use of Force Committee, to review and investigate all use of force incidents.
  • Formed the Work Force Program, working with the City and Courts, to allow non-violent offenders to work off their sentence through community service. This program provides 20-30 people to work on local beautification projects.

She may well be on the statewide ticket in 2017 – probably Lt. Governor as I personally think Obenshain will be the governor candidate and Del. Rob Bell will be the AG candidate.  We’ll see…
