SANTORUM says NO to UN TREATY on rights of disabled! If you HOMESCHOOL a disabled/special needs CHILD – some judge can say that is ILLEGAL!

I was pleased (thanks to parentalrights.org) to report that former PA Senator and Presidential candidate Rick Santorum has expressed his opposition to the UN Treaty on the Rights of the Disabled:

Rick and Karen Santorum said: “The ultimate responsibility of all parents is to care for your child, a responsibility that only takes on added weight when your child has special needs. As parents of a beautiful, special girl, we know first-hand the blessings of loving our Bella. This is precisely why we at Patriot Voices are urging the U.S. Senate to vote against ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). The CRPD would usurp the rights and powers of parents here in the United States to do what is best for their special needs child by placing the law of the UN above the rights of the parents. It is the job of our elected representatives to preserve these rights, not hand them off to unaccountable international bureaucrats.”

Don’t let an unaccountable international bureaucrat or a judge feeling bound by this treaty say to all the parents of any disabled child:  You can’t homeschool your child!  In Germany, homeschooling is illegal based on Nazi-era laws and the ECHR (yes, that court that brought the UK prisoners the vote, that one) says that’s fine.

But my child’s not disabled?  Does your child have an IEP?  A 504 plan?  Has the school recommended special treatment?  Every child that has a IEP or has been diagnosed by the school system as having special needs or has a 504 plan is in the disabled child system!  If this treaty passes, it will be the THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE CHILD that decides.  And who decides?  The government or the judiciary under the “guidance” of a new UN-blessed agency.  The UN cannot have our children!

Call Senator Webb’s office today!  202.224.4024.
