Senate Candidate Tim Donner – Statement on Debt Deal

There is no cause for celebration about the debt deal that has now been passed.

This represents little more than another typical Washington deal loaded with the largest debt extension in history on the front end and unenforceable spending cuts spread over a decade.  And they are not even cuts, but rather minuscule reductions in the unending growth of the federal government. The deal offers almost nothing in the way of relief for our children and grandchildren who will bear the burden of this unspeakably massive debt.

It can be argued that the deal at least changed the terms of the debate, and that it was the best that could be expected from a government weighed down by a Democrat President and Senate.  True enough, but let this ultimately serve as a stark reminder of how vital it is to deny this president a second term, and to elect bold reformers who will join the likes of Jim DeMint, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio in taking control of the Senate.
