SOME SORT of SMEAR CAMPAIGN against UKIP; the PARTY ought to be THANKED for running the BNP out of POLITICS!

The recent press about a few local UKIP candidates that have dubious Facebook posts or were members of the BNP seems to be orchestrated from somewhere.  But where?

UKIP claims it is the Tories:

UKIP has accused the Tories of running a “morally reprehensible” smear campaign by trawling through would-be councillors’ Twitter and Facebook posts.

And it appears there is more stuff coming.

At least two Sunday newspapers plan to run negative UKIP stories.

The Observer claims leaked emails reveal that one of the party’s MEPs is concerned about excessive “political correctness” among new recruits.

Meanwhile the Sunday Mirror reports that UKIP leader Nigel Farage is under “ferocious pressure” to kick out the racists in his party.

This is the silliest thing.  Shouldn’t UKIP seek to remove racists from their midst?  UKIP has had a rule for some time:  If you were a member of the BNP or other racist groups you are barred from membership in UKIP.  The rule is stated here in Rule 1:6:

I.6
Membership is not available to anyone who is or has previously been a member of the British National Party, the National Front,
the UK First party, theEnglish Defence League, the British Freedom Party and the Britain First Party (or any other parties
or organisations later added to the proscribed list). Any applications made from people who are or have been
members of these organisations will be refused, and any subscriptions collected will be refunded. By making an
application for membership, the applicant certifies that he is not and has never been a member of either of these parties.

Permanently.  I would not be so strict but UKIP is.  (UKIP does have a rule that allows rare exceptions to this ban.)  Sky News reported that UKIP is seeking to get rid of unfavorable individuals:

It [UKIP] added that it did not condone “homophobic, xenophobic, extreme nor unpalatable views” and would deal with each individual case on merit.

The British press and the mainstream parties ought to THANK UKIP for removing the BNP as a serious political voice.  Remember when the BNP actually won two seats in the European Parliament?  What happened after that?  UKIP started beating the BNP in election after election.  Now they have almost no voice.  Don’t take my word for it; take the word of these radical socialists:’

More significantly, it is not just in middle England where UKIP are breaking through, for their success in Eastleigh follows on from the second places they attained in the Middlesbrough and Rotherham by-elections in November last year, and Barnsley in March 2011, all Labour strongholds where UKIP comprehensively beat out the BNP. What explains this?

It is no coincidence that the rise of UKIP has followed on the heels of the decline of the BNP. In 2008 the BNP held 55 local and district councillors (link) and scored almost 70,000 votes in the London mayoral election, and in 2009 they won two MEPs in European elections where they netted a million votes nationwide. This earned Nick Griffin a spot on Question Time in November 2009, and the BNP then went on to poll over 500,000 votes in the 2010 general election. From this pinnacle, the BNP are now down to three elected councillors and their vote in the 2012 London mayoral election fell to below 30,000. In contrast to UKIP, the BNP are only standing 100 candidates in the coming local elections.

I would suggest that British politics is better off for the fall of the BNP.  UKIP is trying to keep racists and other undesirables out of politics.  I wonder if this is not some sort of other plan.  Many will lose if the EU loses power back to sovereign nations.  Lose power.  Probably lose fortunes.  UKIP is a threat to all this.  If the UK leaves the EU and nothing terrible happens, other European nations might be tempted to do the same and the superempire will fall into the ruins of itself.  The stakes are high.

Sometimes these campaigns backfire; they cause people to say:  NO.  I won’t take it anymore.  I’m voting UKIP anyway.  I pray that UKIP does well Thursday!
