THE MEAN, HATEFUL, BLASPHEMOUS BATTLE HYMN of the REPUBLIC as SANCTIFIED by the LATIN AMERICAN NAZARENES!

I went recently to Nicaragua for a missions trip and I thoroughly enjoyed the spiritual adventure – at least two people got saved, a sanctuary was built (although more needs to be done) and a community of followers in Christ were encouraged with the fulfillment of what they had prayed for and raised money for – a new place of worship!  And our teams and their churches were blessed and encouraged.  It’s important to reach the lost for Jesus Christ – even here in the USA, too!  We hope to go back again next year.

But there was one other especially splendid moment:  When the Nicaraguan believers sang the Spanish version of the old hymns of the Church.  One song was what we call the Battle Hymn of the Republic.  This mean, hateful, anti-Southern, blasphemous hymn is one I try never to sing.  But what the Latin American Nazarenes did with this song is nothing short of sanctifying:

Spanish words for first verse:

Companeros Nazarenos que luchamos por Jesus en la america latina ganando almas para Dios

Redoblemos nuestro es fuerzo propaguemos hoy la luz de plena salvation

coro: Ganare a mis compatriotas

Ganare a mis compatriotas

Ganare a mis compatriotas

en nombre de Jesus

And a rough Google and Sandy translation:

Fellow Nazarenes who fight for Jesus in Latin America winning souls for God
Redouble our effort especially promote today is the light of full salvation

chorus: Prosper (Ganare) my fellows
Prosper (Ganare) my fellows
Prosper (Ganare) my fellows
in the name of Jesus

I was excited so much I asked one of the ladies to copy this verse for me.  I do not know who wrote this Spanish version but they did a holy work.  We need to win the lost all over the world – including Latin America, too.  And ban the Battle Hymn of the Republic from church!  At least the English version!

Here is a You Tube video of an orchestra playing the song (titled Nuestros Ideal – Our Ideal or Vision) which is hymn number 268 in the Himnos Nazarenos hymnal.

For those of my readers who decide they want to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, here’s how!
