The Times Square Bomber Would Have Defeated Arlen Specter

The Progressive Liberals are desperately searching for a silver lining in yesterday’s batch of primaries and elections. The spinners are feigning delight at the “victory” of Joe Sestak, a liberal Progressive that only a Socialist can love. And it is hard to blame the Democrats for celebrating the loss of 30 year career politician Arlen Specter. No one trusts Specter at this point.

But the results of this primary was less a victory for Sestak and more a loss for Specter. Sestak successfully tied Specter to George W. Bush, still an albatross around the neck of anyone running for office.

The campaign ad below was an absolutely devastating blow to Specter’s camp. While this was not shown in Virginia, it played over and over in Pennsylvania. George Bush “trusts” Specter, and Specter shows himself to want nothing more than to win a 6th term. The creepy look on Specter’s face says it all.

After viewing that ad, you can understand the primary results.

In addition, President Obama is now 0 – 4 in pulling his candidates across the line. In most Democratic circles, the President has now earned the reputation as the “kiss of death” for Democrats.

This election cycle is about incumbents who are spending too much money. The next tier to fall will be the hopeful Progressives like Sestak, who plan to support the out of control debt and spending of Obama, Pelosi and Reid.

Sestak does not stand a chance against Republican Pat Toomey. This is a classic race between the big Washington spenders and a fiscal Conservative who believes Obama is spending irresponsibly.

While Obama attempted to distance himself from Specter when the polls showed his defeat was likely, this is still a slap to Obama’s face and a repudiation of his policies.

Right, so you’re aware that Sestak’s margin of victory came wholly from a big victory amongst Conservatives and Moderates? Sestak lost the liberal vote to Specter. It’s obvious that Sestak ran around Specter from the right. Then again, it’s pretty easy to be to the right of the new Specter.

I think Democrats nominating a pragmatic centrist will help them defeat Toomney. But there always is a Deeds-esque fiasco that could be lurking.

Everyone is claiming Sestak is a progressive. That is the positive spin from the left anyway. From my vantage point, they both look like left wing uber liberals to me.

But I really believe the mistrust of Specter and his 30 years doomed him. He would have lost if he stayed a Republican, so all he managed to do was go out as a 30 year legislator that no one likes.

Well, he’s extremely pro-veteran which shall appeal to Military voters and moderates/conservatives across the state. http://www.youtube.com/user/Sestak2010#p/u/15/7WXCUtef9eA

If Health-Care is going to be the defining issue for the left, then I guess they’ll rally for Sestak the Progressive. If the military, education, and energy are the main issues, Sestak will get some momentum for being pro-veteran and pro-defense, pro-nuclear and helping with the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act.

I wonder if it’s really the liberals or just anti-establishment that’s happening here. Sestak campaigned more to the center than Specter (who touted his strong liberal voting record).

Nothing is more conservative than a republican wanting to get their majority back. And nothing is more liberal than a republican WITH a majority.
