As we await the opening ceremonies – the best part of the Games (except for the fact that Taiwan does not get to fly its flag as they come in – why? Because Red China doesn’t like it! If I were Taiwan I would say, no flag no Olympics. And mean it. And the USA and its friends should also insist the Republic of China enters the Olympics as the Republic of China and flags its flag. I will tonight at the opening to protest! (I also have the Botswana flag too!)
These are the nations who have and have not won an Olympic medal. Not one. Never. Not even a bronze. There are 80 or so.
Here’s a few highlights:
ALBANIA
ANGOLA – The basketball team has won several African championship but is usually blown out by the sports imperialist powers
BANGLADESH – This nation of 150 million has won no medal. Not expected to change this Olympics.
BENIN
BOLIVIA – No medal since they started in the Olympics in 1936. Probably no change in 2012
BOTSWANA – This status might change: SI predicted Amantle Montsho will win a bronze in the 400. Two or three others say no.
CAMBODIA
GABON
JORDAN – SI says they may break through in the medal department in Taekwando (Nadin Dawani)
LIBERIA
MADAGASCAR
SOLOMON ISLANDS
SWAZILAND
TURKMENISTAN
Let’s see if they have a chance! One thing’s for sure. I am not rooting for the pro athletes – including men’s basketball. I’ll be neutral if the USA plays say Russia but against Lithuania, I’ll root hard – for Lietuva!
