I have blogged about Dan Casey at the Roanoke News. He is unwilling to see the truth about ICLEI but still criticizes its opponents. But here was a great letter from Lance O Hunt from Vinton that Casey printed in the News (I only copy part of it here):
Since you are so often and so publicly extremely critical of anyone that doesn’t support ICLEI, I wonder how much you know about it. Have you looked at it in depth?
At any rate, I always read your stuff, you do good work, a bright spot in this Roanoke paper. I will continue to read, even when I disagree.
Check out the seven comments. They are respectful mostly. (I am not nor do I know the “Sandi Saunders” among the comments.) They show that it is easier to be firm but respectful and gracious to our opponents. Even the Bible says (in the context of sharing our faith), “…be ready always to give an answer to every man who that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear…” I Peter 3:15 (KJV)(emphasis added)
We need to be ready to share what we believe about the UN, ICLEI and the Constitution with “meekness and fear” (I would say “gentleness and reverence”) and win our opponents. We can win some of them.
