Still leading the pack, but not by as much as national polls suggest, Donald Trump has a 9 point lead in Virginia, 28-19% over Ted Cruz.
What is really interesting about Virginia is the fact that there are four candidates polling well into the double digits. While this would normally be great news for candidates coming in 3rd or 4th, usually unable to pass a percentage threshold, some of those delegates will be pilfered by the lower tier candidates, since there is no threshold at all.
If the election were held today, the delegate total would look like this:
Total bound delegates: 46 – 2.17%/delegate
Donald Trump: 13
Ted Cruz: 9
Ben Carson: 8
Marco Rubio: 7
Jeb Bush: 2
Carly Fiorina: 1
Rand Paul: 1
Chris Christie: 1
