I have blogged on this news item before; the UKIP was to field seven candidates for the Northern Ireland elections.
The update is better news: The patriotic libertarian UK party will have eight candidates for the Stormont elections this May. (No, to my readers in the UK, Sandy was not selected; he is not eligible!) Let’s see how they do.
There is also a by-election for Westminster scheduled for March 3 arising from the conviction on expenses fraud of Labour MP Eric Illsley of Barnsley Central. Here’s the FB page for my favourite candidate – the UKIP standing with Jane Collins. Collins is a miner’s daughter and Yorkshire native. She has this short article in the local press; the UKIP MEP Godfrey Bloom said this in endorsement:
Showing his support, Godfrey Bloom, MEP for Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, said Jane would make a great impact in Barnsley.
“I think she has a good strong chance to make a great impact,” he said. “The town needs a change and it has come from years and years of contempt from what ordinary people think. ”I strongly believe we can change this.”
