This study is a bit of a hard read but the sum and substance of it is that some Labour voters could be lured to UKIP in both UK and European elections:

So why should Labour worry? Our study finds Ukip’s domestic support is drawn from the same pool of angry white working-class voters as the BNP, but in 2009 Ukip was already three times as popular. Since then, the political environment has changed dramatically, and largely to Ukip’s benefit. Rising unemployment and economic stagnation, combined with the coalition’s cuts to public services, will enlarge the pool of angry, economically struggling voters.

The conclusion is encouraging:

Those on the centre left who are cheered by the collapse of the BNP could soon find themselves facing a much more potent and respected radical right competitor. They need to develop an effective response. And now.

But they can’t!  Why not?  Because most left wing parties (including the Democratic Party here) are globalist; they cannot repudiate that article of faith.  Here’s another issue UKIP is gaining support in – meddling by foreign courts in UK internal matters.  This time, the issue is not votes for prisoners but rather commanded soft touch for terrorists and criminals.  It is surprising that this is a LibDem Peer (member of the House of Lords) and respected attorney, Lord Carlile is the point person here.

Rulings by unelected judges in Strasbourg are having a ‘chilling effect’ on public safety in Britain, a senior government adviser warns today.  *  *  *  In particular, he attacked the way the European Convention on Human Rights was blocking the removal of foreign criminals and terror suspects.

Here’s some stark examples of a court run amuck:

Last year, more than 200 foreign convicts evaded removal on the grounds that it would infringe their right to a ‘family life’.

Cases included Iraqi Mohammed Ibrahim, who knocked down 12-year-old Amy Houston and left her to ‘die like a dog’ under the wheels of his car. He was driving while disqualified, and after the little girl’s death he committed a string of further offences.

An immigration tribunal ruled that – because Ibrahim had children while living in Britain – he had a right to a ‘family life’ in the UK.

This is outrageous.  PM Cameron cannot do anything according to the Daily Mail because of his deal with the LibDems.

Mr Clegg, who used to work for the European Commission, naively believes that human rights laws can do no wrong and has prevented his Tory partners from reforming the Strasbourg court or Labour’s insidious Human Rights Act.

He needs to find an answer or he’ll face an election where UKIP either wins seats or causes the Tories to be wiped out by Labour.

In another example of UKIP being a regular political party, UKIP national leader Nigel Farage emphasized local issues in the upcoming Northern Ireland elections but did not leave out their determination to get UK out of the EU.

It also wants the UK to withdraw from Europe and restrict immigration to give priority to the “needs of the UK”.
