Apparently, the UK ruling Coalition did something right:  They are allowing parliamentary debate on any issue where an electronic petition with 100,000 names on it is submitted to the MPs (and assuming it meets certain criteria).

The first such debate may be over capital punishment in the UK.  (The Young Turk Kwasi Kwarteng said he’d agree to debate the death penalty but not vote for it.)  The next may be the membership of the United Kingdom in the EU.  The UKIP members of the European Parliament (It would be harder to imagine a more exciting but depressing job in the world today – fighting for liberty and sovereignty in the maw of the EU beast – but you lose almost all the time!) have called for this debate and for the necessary signatures:

UKIP Leader Nigel Farage urged all Party members and supporters to add their names to the ePetition as soon as possible.

He said: “This is a real chance to force the Government into a proper, Parlimentary debate on an issue that affects everyone in the UK, every single day of their lives but on which they have been denied a say so far.

It’s time to get the MPs on the record.  Are you in or out?  Only UKIP can be counted on.
