This is a long awaited report from the Roanoke Tea Party:
Last night, the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to end funding for membership in the United Nations environmental partner organization known as ICLEI (International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives). This critical first step was a long time coming. Credit is due to the diligent efforts of a few in our midst who have pressed this issue at Board meetings for a couple years running.
This is important. No longer is Roanoke County, Virginia violating the Constitution by being confederated with other us and foreign cities to conduct foreign policy at UN climate conferences. I agree with the RTP that this is a small victory in the overall issue of spending (The ICLEI dues were only $1200) and two supervisors did vote with us because they were tired of the issue.
It is time to start a new round of prairie fires and starve the ICLEI beast! But this weekend, enjoy that sweet tea (Chick-Fil-A and McDonalds are the best with Popeye’s and Arby’s a close third!) and then get back to work until ICLEI is out of the US!
And YES we’ll add Roanoke County to the Wall of Honor!

Well done Roanoke! Now go after the US Conference of Mayors and their Climate program, your city is probably a member and is an equally evil substitute for ICLEI

I agree Laurie! (What a beautiful name!) I might ought to learn more but we need to start with ICLEI.

As a residence of Roanoke County, this is not a “Wall of Honor” I or many of my fellow residence would wish to be upon.

Adherence to the Constitution is always a honorable thing, Cecilia. I invite you and other residents of Roanoke County to read more about how nefarious ICLEI is. Thanks for coming by!
Sandy
I do adhere to the Constitution. I am unclear how ICLEI is nefarious, considering the definition is ” extremely wicked or villainous.”
