Although it would be a complete victory if Clallam County had renounced sustainable development, the city of Sequim did in deed decide not to renew their membership in ICLEI! We’re adding it to the Wall of Honor!
Here’s one report from a blog, another from the Freedom Foundation, and a third confirmation from the local media!
Although Sequim is listed as a member on the ICLEI website, City Manager Steve Burkett said Sequim’s membership has expired.
“I decided we weren’t going to continue our membership,” Burkett said in a Tuesday phone interview.
“Our membership expired, I think, at the end of August, and we don’t have plans to continue it.”
Now only Port Townsend and the county of Clallam are ICLEI members in this area! The protests I blogged about may have well have an effect. Keep up the fight!
