Virginia Right ENDORSEMENT: Del. Les Adams in the 16th District

There is a good chance I will be on the road (pray for me!) tonight to a fundraising event for my good colleague and fellow lawyer who is a wonderful conservative member of the House of Delegates – Del. Les Adams in the 16th (Most of Pittsylvania and Henry counties and all of the City of Martinsville) District.

The Virginia Right blog, one of the leading if not the leading conservative blogs in Virginia, has endorsed Adams before:

I was excited about Adams from the beginning and got the chance to speak with him; I believe he’s a great conservative.  Don’t take my word for it:  Adams was recently endorsed by Delegate Ben Cline (district 24) and the Virginia Conservative Victory Project:

[This is from a debate the primary candidates had in 2015 cited in the prior blog post]

The candidates differed slightly on the Governor’s transportation package. Adams says if he were serving in the legislature this spring, he would have opposed the idea, calling it the largest tax hike in state history. Bowman says it’s impossible to say if he would have supported the plan, but he says it’ll have big benefits down the road.

Les got 80 percent of the vote!  (I’m jealous!  🙂  )

Les was a former assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, adjunct at the Helms School of Government at Liberty University, and is now the Town of Chatham attorney.

Adams’ first passed bill was one that every appellate lawyer ought to thank him for (and an donation is a nice thanks!) because it closed a potentially bad loophole around the holidays where the state employees get extra days off as authorized by the Governor not the General Assembly.  So the issue was:  Could the courts legally close – well never fear – Les introduced this amendment to this code section and it passed unanimously!  We need vision like that in the General Assembly.

Del. Adams also got this bill passed that reaffirms Jefferson’s Statute of Religious Freedom:

§ 57-2. Rights asserted therein reaffirmed.

The General Assembly doth now again does hereby declare again that the rights asserted in the said act § 57-1 are of the natural and unalienable rights of mankind and this declaration is the policy of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Even signed by the Governor!

I am glad and honored to endorse and ask the blog to endorse Del. Les Adams in 2017 in any primary and in the general election.

BTW, the event I may be at tonight is Del. Adams with special guest:  Speaker of the House of Delegates, The Honorable William J. Howell.  If work is slow, I can leave work early…
