Another Sandy the blogger favorite is: Term limits.
Delegate Sam Rasoul has reintroduced his term limits state constitutional amendment (Don’t worry – this has nothing to do with the bad con-con idea!) which would limit service in each house to 12 years.
Here it is: HJ622.
Time for the tea party and other limited government groups to get behind this bill and get it passed.
Remember: A state constitutional amendment has to have two passages in both houses with an election intervening and then it goes to the people for a vote.

As it happens we already have term limits. For Congress and the President it is called an election. For judges it is called impeachment.
The solution is an informed electorate that will replace the bad guys with good ones. Without that, when retirement is required, what happens is that Socialist A is just replaced with Socialist B.

First, I am elated that Sue Long reads this blog! Thanks for coming by. I have two reasons why I switched to term limits: 1) The longer you stay in Richmond or Washington etc it is a lot more likely you will become part of the system – want the key committee or committee chairmanship or corner office or some other perk. 2) I think the “vote ’em out” thesis is very difficult with money in politics, gerrymandering, uncontested races, bad ballot access etc. It does and can happen. But probably not as often as it should.
I urge the Tea Party to support and endorse Del. Rasoul’s bill.

Sandy, Even though you correctly state that a constitutional convention ( con con ) is not the way to go to pass this Lame Duck Amendment, it will be used by the con con promoters since it obviously cannot pass otherwise.
Considering the horrific things that Obama did in a short time as a lame duck president, I shutter to think of having so many lame duck legislators in Congress for two years at a time.
