There is another by-election for the British Parliament coming up on Thursday, March 3. It’s in the coal-mining district and has been a safe district for Labour. The Labour MP, Eric Illsley was convicted of expenses fraud and resigned his seat. The Tories are almost a minor party here and the BNP received 8% of the vote in the last election, twice the votes of the UKIP.
Here is the list of the major (and several of the minor) candidates. The UKIP candidate is Jane Collins. She is clearly the best candidate but it will be a long shot to win. We’ll see on March 3; perhaps the UKIP will beat out the BNP again.

UKIP has a good chance of beating the LibDem candidate to finish third after Labour and Tories. The BNP has lost its fuel and UKIP now beats them even in their own strongholds.
