WHAT MITT ROMNEY should have SAID to the MEDIA about the LIBYA incident!

Here’s some free advice for the Mitt Romney campaign.  Here’s what should have been said about the Libya disaster:

Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen:

I find President Obama’s response to the Libyan crisis and the slaying of our ambassador to be inadequate and the media coverage to be inappropriate.

First, an attack on an embassy or consulate is an act of war.  We will find and bring to justice those involved, be it in a US courtroom or the business end of a unmanned drone.  It also is the legal responsibility of the Libyan government to protect our embassy staff.  The failure to do so violates the 1963 Vienna Consular Treaty.  We will expect just compensation from the Libyan government and if that is not forthcoming, we will pursue all avenues such as a complaint to the International Court of Justice and allowing and encouraging private suits against Libya in American courts.  We also will act to find and seize Libyan assets in the US if necessary.

But, let’s remember that it was NATO intervention (encouraged by the Obama administration whose consent had to be given for any military action by NATO) in Libya ansd the destabilization of the  legitimate Gadhafi regime (as morally reprehensible) as it was) that led to both al-Qaeda in Libya and the present government that is apparently too wear to fulfill its diplomatic obligations.  Nonintervention is not always desirable (remember this is Mitt Romney talking not me) but there is wisdom in minding our own business when our national interests are not threatened.  Gadhafi had complied with his promises and he did have a right to restore order in Libya within international law norms.  Also, the NATO intervention led to the present hostilities in Mali and may have led to the persecution of Christians.

It also is our President’s weakness abroad that is a contributing factor in this tragedy.  His continued apologies for our system and traditions abroad have encouraged our enemies.

I also condemn the use of violence to protest irreverent items that offend religious belief.  The US is a religious nation and is a free nation and sometimes, there are conflicts.  But we work them out in the way of tolerance and understanding.  We expect other nations and belief systems to do the same.

Finally, I must say to the media:  You in general but not all of you of course have covered this race in a manner unfairly supportive of the President and critical of me.  Since millions get their information from the mainstream media, your bias is inappropriate in a free society. Your coverage of such things as Solyndra, Fast and Furious, and my running mate’s position on Obamacare being a looting of over $700 billion from  Medicare, when this writer at Mother Jones, hardly a conservative magazine, agreed that the President’s health care law does in deed take from Medicare.  I exhort you to stop it and cover this race fairly.  Vote for whoever you want.  But cover the news as if you had no opinion one way or the other.  To do otherwise is to abdicate your moral duty to the citizens who need your services to get the truth.

I will now take questions.

Romney needs to take on the media and also let people know:  The President is weak and seen as not assertive.  If the Governor needs my help in the future BEFORE it occurs, let me know!
