WHAT’S our VALUE as a PERSON? Well, if you believe the BIBLE, then….

Thanks again to the Whited Sepulchre for inspiration as to the purpose of every man or woman.

Here’s a blog post based on a few minutes near the end of the movie Saving Private Ryan.  For my readers who do not know the thesis behind this well-made but way too violent for my taste movie:  Private Ryan is one of at least two brothers serving in the US armed forces in the Second World War but just after he lands at Normandy Beach, he has to be retrieved because he is the last of the brothers and if they can retrieve him from the front, the war will be over for him.

So, this scene excerpted towards the end of the movie the old surviving Private Ryan asks, as he fully realizes others risked or gave their life for his rescue.  Ryan asks the question:  Am I a good man?  Was my life worth it?

The Whited Sepulchre mentions several heroic persons most of whom I concur with except for Bradley Manning (Manning did commit a crime or crimes and I cannot say giving material to unknown foreign forces might have placed others at risk.) and I am still not sure about Edward Snowden yet.Does God think you are worth it!  It’s a critical question.  Now the only answer is to receive by faith what Jesus Christ did on the cross – died for the sins of all mankind.  “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”  Romans 5:8(KJV)

When we grasp this truth, we are driven to our knees in gratitude.  What can God say at the end of our lives?  Were we good enough?  Of course no one is good enough.  “As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one.”  (Romans 3:10[KJV]) But the Word says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”  Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)  We have a holy purpose.  But you have to have faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior!  “For without faith is it impossible to please him [God]…”  Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)

So the Bible teaches that God sent his Son to take our penalty for sins and then frees us for good works.  Like Private Ryan, we need to ask ourselves:  Am I am a good person?  I urge all my readers to examine themselves:  Have we used our gifts, talents and abilities for God’s glory?  Don’t be the servant who buried his bag of gold in the ground – he was condemned by the master for not doing all we can for His work and living a holy life.  (See Matthew 25:25-30)  Let’s trust in Jesus today and live led by the Spirit and we will not listen to the lusts of the flesh!  (See Galatians 5:16)

Here’s how to believe in Jesus today – go here!
