Why a Mosque Should Not Be Built Near Ground Zero

On September 11, 2001 an American Airlines Jumbo jet struck North Tower of the World Trade Center at 8:46 AM. Black smoke could be seen billowing from the tower. The picture was all over the news. The first reports called this a horrific accident. As we stared at our televisions looking at the accident, 16 minutes later, at 9:02 AM a second jet impacted the South Tower.

That was the point we all realized that this was no accident, but an attack.

And then the Pentagon was hit and the fear and paranoia fully engulfed the nation. Parents rushing to pick up their children from school listened on the car radio as another plane reportedly crashed in Pennsylvania.

Were there more? Was the sky falling in on us?

We all contemplated our own morality that day. And we were filled with fear and panic. And, yes, terror.

A dark force completely engulfed everyone in the country.

And much, but not all, of the world.

There were those who cheered the deaths. Those that rejoiced at seeing the towers crumble without care or concern for the innocent victims. To part of the world, this was a huge victory. A moment to be remembered fondly as a wonderful and monumental day.

This was the day that Islam struck the Great Satan with a mighty blow. The day all Americans wept and cowered with their families in despair. The feeling was one of profound sadness and helplessness.

And for the next few weeks, the air above America, and much of the world, was empty. As we sat glued to the television hoping that one more survivor, their face smeared with ash and soot, would flash a weak smile as the rescue workers placed them in the waiting ambulance.

And there were scenes of frantic parents, spouses, lovers and siblings searching for their missing loved one. And the tears of the children were unbearable, crying out for their mothers and fathers.

A tidal wave of utter despair, sorrow and hopelessness washed over America.

And it was at this low point that videos of Muslims celebrating our loss began to appear. An inhuman celebration of the death and destruction brought by the followers of radical Islam was taking place in Muslim nations around the globe. Their hatred and intolerance for America branded in their happy faces as the pain and suffering in America was at its greatest.

These people will not see a Mosque at Ground Zero as a bridge to healing. It will be seen as a monument to the happiest event in their lives – the day they struck America. Watch the video below. It is but one of thousands. And those celebrating are not radically indoctrinated, hardened terrorists. They are women, children, young and old celebrating at the misery Allah allowed their martyrs to inflict.

A Mosque at Ground Zero will cause two strong, yet opposite emotions. As the old wounds are opened again, Americans will be reminded of the dark days of 9/11 again and again as they walk past the Mosque, drive by or see it on the screen. And the Muslims that celebrated the death of the Towers will see this as a monument to the destruction brought to America. A reminder of the glee and exuberance they felt as they watched America suffer. And they, too, will relive the emotional times of 9/11, and celebrate the second victory of Islam over America.

This video is the reason the Mosque must not be allowed to rise in the shadows of the Twin Towers. It is not about religious freedom or intolerance of Islam. It is about the emotional chasm between those who cried – and still cry – and those who cheered. And anyone who supports this travesty stands with those who cheered.

Thank you Tom, We Remember. As you pointed out they do not think as we do, most Americans fail to realize the difference in our cultures. This can not be allowed happen.

The Muslims in the video are hateful human beings, because Islam teaches hate and violence. Is this religion proud of the violence it produces? What kind of world would we live in if their religion dominated the world? I’d rather have my nipples shaved off with a cheese-grater than live in a world like that. Peace, Love and Happiness to all.

Nice post, Tom. There is the very strong possibility that even if they want to build the Hamas-que, American workers simply won’t do it. If our political class doesn’t have the nerve to say NO, the American people have other means.

  3. The Victory Mosque is just the visible tip of a very large iceberg. Beneath the surface of Western societies, Muslims are waging a campaign of infiltration, subversion, sedition and social sabotage, with the openly stated objective of destroying our countries and way of life from within.

wow in my 14 years of life I have never seen that video and I have never felt so mad

  5. Hey dude, you have got a very great blog here. The posts are really well written. Do you write them yourself or ?

  6. Derrick says:

It is completely irrelevant that the people who crashed airplanes into the world trade center were Muslims. And although some Muslims cheered on 9/11, most did not. And we must remember that Islam did not attack us; Al Qaeda did. To have a religious building moved out of prejudice or racism is as un American as it gets. And the fact that some don’t want an Islamic building to be built near ground zero shows how Americans associate Islam with terrorism. It is prejudice and racism. Muslim American’s died, mourned, and cried on September 11th, just as other Americans did.

  7. Teagan Lampman says:

This is the worst video I’ve ever seen. How can these people be happy that thousands of INNOCENT people died?
