When in the Course of human events…
Everyone should read the US Constitution and the Declaration of Independence on a regular basis. It makes us remember things we tend to forget. Many of us who have roots in America going back to colonial days and the early days of the founding of the greatest country on earth now have a fire in out bellies lamenting our losses of freedom. We come by it honestly.
In reading the Declaration of Independence again today, I am amazed at the parallels of the Democrats in Congress and the President to the egregious actions of King George III of England. What got people so fired up in the 1700′s is very close to what is getting so many fired up now.
The French and Indian War was a fight between Britain and France that lasted from 1754-1763. Because the British ended in debt, they began to demand more from the colonies. As the demands mounted and liberties were lost, the inevitable push back occurred.
Today we see mountains of debt being piled on by Obama and the Democrats. While the tax increases have not yet hit, and despite a pledge to only soak the “rich”, we all know that this massive debt is not sustainable. At some point we will all be hit with oppressive taxes, perhaps after Obama is long gone. But it is coming, there is no doubt.
Fortunately, we have more options than the founding fathers had. Having one party rule, as we do now, leads to tyranny. A “shared” tyranny to be accurate, but tyranny nonetheless. All of the power is concentrated in the President and a few elitist liberals. We have made some dent in the tyrannical plans of the few, using protests and mass dissent. Those who dare speak out against this are belittled, suffer attempts to marginalize them, and are demonized by a willing accomplice – the Mainstream Media.
We do not have to declare independence, fortunately. The Founding Fathers gave us a way to rid ourselves of tyranny and purge those that would erode our freedoms: elections. Many Democrats see the writing on the wall. Their arrogance surpasses the “blame Bush” mantra. Their failure to listen, and actively ignoring their constituents will send many of them packing in 2010.
Below are the reasons we declared independence from the Crown as laid out in the Deceleration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson with comments on today’s parallels to the current administration:
He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
Republican proposals have been defeated, Obama says “I won”. He has totally refused to listen to anything he does not want to hear.
He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
Unemployment stimulus, anyone?
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
Almost everything that comes from Obama comes with strings attached. We must give up our right to make our own laws in order to get money from the Federal government.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their Public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.
All night sessions to pass bills. Unable to sleep, forcing votes on thousands of pages of legislation minutes after delivery.
He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.
Obama blames Limbaugh, Eric Cantor, Brooks Brothers protesters, Beck, etc. So far he has not dissolved the “Representative Houses”, but he would if he could.
He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.
Obama wants jusges with “empathy” to legislate from the bench.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.
He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.
Union thugs, Acorn, etc. He also wants to establish a National Security Force, but I think he knows this will not go over well.
He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:
Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reed, et. al.
For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:
Cap and Tax?
For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences:
Or in the case of this President, transporting terrorists to our shores to be aided by a broken courts system not designed for foreign terrorists, yet grant them full Constitutional rights by bringing them to our shores.
For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:
Socialism, Abortion, Gays, etc.
He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.
Inciting Domestic Insurrections? You bet. Pass on the Indian Savages.
In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
Teabaggers? Birthers? Brook Brothers? Astro-turf? Mobs?
Stages his own “Town Hall” meetings.
Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our British brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.
Every time we mention the 10th amendment, Obama goes on the attack. States rights are trampled daily.
