Last night, Hollywood once again took the opportunity to pat themselves on the back with awards.
Normally, I don’t bother with tripe like that.
But last night, a Silent Movie, “The Artist” took home the Best Picture award marking the first time in 83 years that a silent film won an Oscar in the category.
I willingly (and proudly) admit that not only have I not seen the movie, but prior to the hype of the last couple of days, had not even heard of the movie (no pun intended).
But I feel that I must note the delicious irony in the fact that this year’s Best Picture was awarded to a film that finally got a bunch of self-important Hollywood Actors to shut up!
And rewarded their silence!
Now, if we can just carry the momentum of silence to real life then people like Alex Baldwin, Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn might find that people will actually start to like them if they just stopped talking.
I know I would personally like all three of those mental midgets far better if only they learned to shut the hell up!
You Go Oscar!
