We have been predicting for some time that House and Senate Republicans were going to cave in to higher taxes. Every one of these Republicans has said many, many times “you don’t raise taxes on anyone in a recession – period!”
So Senate Republicans would have us believe that they were completely at the mercy of Democrats and Barack Obama who are demanding tax increases on the wealthy, even though the Republicans believed it would harm to do so.
And they caved.
The vote was a shameful 89 – 8.
And of the 8 who voted against this “deal”, 3 were Democrats who wanted to stick it to the wealthy even more.
So if you want to know the names of the true Conservative members of the US Senate it is an easy list to memorize.
Mike Lee, R-Utah; Rand Paul, R-Ky.; Richard Shelby, R-Ala.; Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa; and Marco Rubio, R-Fla.
The rest of the group shamefully voted to raise taxes and even worse, increased spending and even gave themselves a raise!
This bill has $41 in NEW TAXES for every $1 in spending cuts!
And of course they give this garbage a typical name to pretend they are doing some good. They called this the “Job Protection and Recession Prevention Act of 2012“.
Ironically, raising taxes on the job creators will cost jobs and usher in another round of a recessive economy.
They should have named it the “Betray American’s, Kick the Can and Spend More Money We Don’t Have Act” if they were being honest. But honesty and the US Government have been strangers for a long time.
Here is the list of TEA Party targets who need to be defeated their next election – although some are already gone. Senators DeMint (R-SC) and Kirk (R-IL) did not vote for the measure. DeMint has resigned and Kirk suffered a stroke a year ago and has been working towards returning to the Senate – which will happen very soon, we hear.
But the list of tax raisers is published below and we will remember this the next time these liberals run for office.

At least two of the tax raisers on this list are there because of strong TEA Party support. Pat Toomey of PA and Ron Johnson of WI. Somehow the cut is a little deeper when you learn that not only did most of the Republicans vote for a tax increase, two TEA Party Conservatives betrayed us as well.
And yes, taxes would have gone up if the Bush Tax Cuts expired (which they have unless the House approves this as well AND Barack Obama signs it) but the spending cuts – the Sequestration Cuts – would have also take hold. Unfortunately, the Senate does what they do best. They delayed any cuts in order to figure out a way not to make them.
So now it is up to the Conservative members of the House who are scheduled to take up this measure at noon today. There is no doubt that the “Weeper of the House” Boehner will push as hard as possible for this tax increase and failure to make cuts. And there will be threats and the promise of more repercussions to those “nasty” TEA Party Conservatives in the House who helped kill Boehner’s bill a few days ago.
And fresh from the TEA Party Conservative purge from committees by Boehner and Cantor for the sin of refusing to go along with more of the same irresponsible leadership that they were elected to stop, there is at least a glimmer of hope that between the irrational Democrats who are after some sort of draconian punishment for those who have been successful and want the rich to pay far more in punitive taxes and the TEA Party Conservatives who have already been demoted by the Boehner / Cantor purge, that we can still stop a GOP sanctioned tax increase.
Remember “read my lips”?
That didn’t work out so well for George H.W. Bush at reelection time. He made a promise to get elected and broke it, a sin most of these Senate Republicans have just committed.
The House should kill the bill, or show the American Public that they are serious about the fiscal condition of the nation an include at least an equal amount of cuts as they have taxes.
And shove this back at Barack as the “balanced approach” he has been campaigning for.
The only good thing that came out of this Senate vote is that we now know who stands with Conservatives and who is against us. We have a list.
There are only 5 honest Republican Senators left.
What a shame.
