Bob Shannon: Put Up or Shut Up!

Kudos to Joseph Pierro for his brilliant suggestion for those advocating more tax dollars for anything — period. It’s time to put up or shut up.
The hypocrisy of the left is so easily exposed with such little effort.

The president himself talks incessantly about the rich paying just a little more, yet “ Fair Share Obama “ himself in 2010 took some $500,000 in itemized deductions.

Wealthy celebrities hold fundraisers for the president in between appointments with their tax attorneys who are setting up Land Conservation tax shelters to lower their own tax bite.

A modicum of effort is all that is required to educate oneself on political and or economic philosophies that cannot stand the light of day, let alone rigorous examination.

Turn off American Idol, and invest just a little of your spare time learning how the salvation of our nation depends on an informed citizenry.
I hope in the coming months The Local will report how many of these “under-taxed” citizens of Hanover send in a check.

Mr. Pierro did this county and all taxpaying citizens a great service exposing the hypocrisy.

Hanover County Administrator Cecil Rhu Harris, who earns $238,100 a year, told a representative of the Friends of Hanover Schools that Hanover needs to raise the county’s property tax 8 Cents/$100 FOR THE CHILDREN.

The Planning Department headed by David Maloney, who earns $115,865 annually, wants to build “Rack em and Stack em” affordable, Work force housing for the poor on the Hanover/Henrico County lines. We the tax payer will have to pay for the education ( FOR THE CHILDREN), social services. Fire, EMS, water, sewage, Law Enforcement, transportation and road improvements for these renters.

Where are the advocates in this county for the retired senior citizens who have to pay property taxes and are living on fixed incomes and trying to stay in their homes?

Nothing is more conservative than a republican wanting to get their majority back. And nothing is more liberal than a republican WITH a majority.
