Denying The Premise

On my drive home this afternoon, I’m listening to Mark Belling filling in for Rush Limbaugh. I tune into a segment on “the incompetence of The Left”. The argument being made by my radio was this: Barack Obama and the Democrat Party are obsessed with economic equality. However, if you look at the actual reality of income equality/inequality in the United States, it is highest in those areas primarily controlled by Democrats. The Gini Coefficient is the statistical measurement that demonstrates these gaps between the very rich and the very poor. Mr. Belling explains how Washington D.C., New York, and Connecticut,  bastions of modern American Liberalism, are the three worst ranking states when it comes to economic inequality. His conclusion was that “The Left” is incompetent.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Left isn’t incompetent. They have succeeded in doing everything they’ve wanted to do. What you see in Washington D.C., New York, and Connecticut are not examples of liberal failure, but rather examples of liberal success! Liberals talk endlessly about inequality, but they don’t actually intend to solve that problem. They don’t actually want the poor to all of a sudden join the middle class, or worse the wealthy. They want them right where they are: dependent, angry, and completely subsidized. That means that the poor are completely dependent on the federal government.

The path to hell is not literally paved with good intentions. It is paved with the promise of good intentions. They don’t actually mean any of it. The United States has one of the most pristine environments in the world and yet they will tell you that we need more environmental regulation. This isn’t aimed at improving the environment. It’s aimed at growing the government. They’ll tell you about how awful it is, the gap between the wealthy and the poor in America, but they don’t mean to reduce poverty. They mean to grow government. They’ll complain about a living wage, but what they really want is more federal control over wages. Do you honestly believe if the government ever did get control over wages in this country that wages would increase? Of course not! Just look at Russia and China. Ok, don’t look too closely, because both of those countries are trying out capitalism as a means of saving their failed communist models. They are also looking to expand their territory.

This premise, that liberals are compassionate infuriates me. They aren’t after solving problems. Are Common Core and Obamacare solutions to problems, or the source of them? They are looking at destroying the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Republic, and replacing them with a dictatorial liberal regime. Is the EPA promoting liberty right now? Is the Bureau of Land Management promoting liberty? Is the IRS promoting liberty or justice? Is the Justice Department promoting liberty and justice? Is the Agriculture Department ensuring equal treatment for small farmers as for Big Agriculture? Of course not. These people are not well-intentioned and they are not incompetent. They are arrogant elitists who are successfully overthrowing our Constitutional Republic and replacing it with themselves. This is happening. It’s right in front of our noses and we’re still talking about “the left’s good intentions”? Please.

When we accept the premise that liberals are just do-gooders with a terrible track record of incompetence, we are severely deluding ourselves and we are missing endless opportunities to connect the results of their policies with their actual intentions. When they say they want to fix Healthcare, we say, “No you don’t, you want to control it!”. When they say they want to fix education, we say, “No you don’t, you want to control it!”. When they say that they want to fix the environment, we say, “No you don’t, you want to control it!”.

Because that is the truth. End of story.
