You let down the Republican Party, South Carolina, your family and your God. As a Christian, you have broken your vows you made to your wife and God. You have proven most untrustworthy at the very core of your foundation. You have made a mockery of marriage and have caused irreversible pain and suffering in your wife and children. You abandoned your state to have a fling with your mistress. And at a time when your party is trying to regain the trust of the public and refine the message of morality and Conservatism, you spit in the face of every Republican, many of whom were entertaining the idea of helping you run for the highest office in the land. You have given Democrats, who like nothing better than to point to Republican leaders that profess morality and family values only to do something disgusting and immoral, more ammunition. The entire party suffered from your “indiscretion”.
Oh, but you found your soul mate. As if anyone besides you actually thinks that matters.
But what about Democrats, you say? Ted Kennedy, Barney Frank, Bill Clinton to name a few. Why do they get to keep their jobs after salacious scandals? It is hypocrisy to allow them to keep their jobs and insist I resign.
But you know it’s not. Democrats rarely make honor, faith, family and morality a cornerstone of their lives. If they did, and really meant it they would be Republicans. But actions like yours convince Democrats and Independents that all Republicans are liars and cheats. Do you see the damage you have done yet?
And I really can’t think of a greater example of hypocrisy than your refusal to sign the bill allowing Faith Based License Plates in South Carolina. Remember what you said?
“It is my personal view that the largest proclamation of one’s faith ought to be in how one lives his life.”
Well, how’s that going now?
You must resign. Plain and simple.
Perhaps buy one of those faith based license plates to put on the car you will be driving your mistress around in. You see, nobody is going to believe anything you claim to stand for ever again. It’s called demonstrated unreliability.
But when you resign, might I suggest you find a really good job and make some large donations to the Republican Party? The ones you turned your back on? It is going to take a lot of money to repair the damage you have done.
