Obama Baits Tea Party: Be Specific on Cuts (Like Hope and Change?)

Trying to find an answer to the Tea Party phenomenon must really be a nightmare for Barack Obama and the Democrats. Every time they attack the Tea Party, the movement grows by leaps and bounds. They have found that attempting to brand the majority of Americans as extremists is not a smart tactic. But they have no other answer for a group demanding a return to the radical concepts of the founding fathers.

So, the man who ran a campaign based entirely on bumper sticker ideas, like hope and change wants the Tea Party to be specific on their calls for smaller government, less spending and lower taxes.

Really?

Hope and change show no direction and no quantity. Smaller government, less spending and lower taxes are specific and show the exact direction for which the Tea Party is aiming.

Obama wants the Tea Party to name specific programs to cut. It was good enough for the Obama Campaign to run on abstract ideas like hope and change, yet he demands specifics from the Tea Party. There was a good reason for Obama to be abstract about his plans: Americans would have never elected him if he had to run on specifics. We are all keenly aware that Obama’s plan was to wing it. Hope and Change are not ideas, they are simply platitudes.

But the Tea Party has been specific. It really does not matter what is cut, or which taxes are lowered. All would be a great place to start.

Obama wants the Tea Party to name specific programs so the Democrats will have a target to shoot at. It is impossible to aim at broad and across the board cuts in both spending and taxes. Democrats would love to make this a debate on rich and poor, social spending vs. tax cuts for the wealthy. These are targets.

The only answer the Administration should hear as to which programs to cut is all of them.

And the same answer applies to tax cuts. Cut them all for everyone who pays taxes.

That is pretty specific.

And the idea of rolling back government spending is a great idea, but 2006 and 2008 levels, which have been suggested, are not nearly enough. But it would be a starting point.

But one specific area that could save Americans substantial sums of money would be to cut Obama’s Czars and their staffs. Every one of these pay-back positions duplicates areas of responsibility assigned to other government agencies or departments and sidesteps congressional oversight. This is an expensive indulgence that should be axed without objections from anyone – except those wishing to thwart the Constitution and the rule of law.

So, the Tea Party need not name specific programs to cut – or eliminate. That is the job of the elected representatives. The Tea Party exists, not to provide detailed specifics on budgetary line items, but to guide and direct a government that has gone astray of the basic principles on which this nation was founded. To serve as a compass to a government that has lost their way.

Most of the people that align themselves with the Tea Party movement are not qualified to produce a national budget. They are parents and grandparents. Laborers and salespersons. A few may be tax attorneys and CPA’s, but the main drive of the Tea Party is to provide direction. It is the job of those leading or running to lead the country to tell the Tea Party what you plan to do. The Tea Party exists only to tell these leaders and wannabe leaders the result they are looking for.

Details and specifics are for the leaders to decide. The only specifics we are hearing from Democrats and Obama is more spending and larger government will solve the problems. And they commit generational theft of the wealth of our children and grandchildren, which is something each and every Tea Party follower finds completely abhorrent.

When we walk into a dealership to buy a car, it is sufficient to tell the salesman we want a car that is durable, fuel efficient and very low maintenance. We are not expected to design the engine, which is what Obama is asking the Tea Party to do.

What part of smaller government, lower taxes and less spending does he not grasp?

Anyone can say they want to cut ALL taxes. How are you going to do it? What are you going to sacrafice? And how will it impact the people? Basically they have no idea of what they are going to do.
