Obama Should Bow and Apologize to Toyota

Today comes word from the Obama Administration that Toyota’s are safe. No electronic sudden acceleration problem found. It was all a really bad misunderstanding.

One that saw Toyota plunge and Government Motors pick up the slack.

President Obama, now famous for bowing and scraping to anyone not American now has a legitimate reason to apologize: He screwed up and wrongly blamed Toyota!

Now, Virginia Right! has been on top of this issue from day one. Over a year ago we asked

Why the Government Should Not Run Private Corporations

No doubt Toyota is facing a major hurdle with the recall issues facing the company. The issue of gas pedals sticking is a serious one that must be addressed. And Toyota is in the process of doing just that.

Ford and GM will be the obvious beneficiaries to such a debacle, and that is simply the nature of things.

But for Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood to make a statement telling Toyota owners to stop driving their cars, and later to say he misspoke is a travesty. Toyota stock has taken a nose dive and the Obama Administration is totally to blame.

So, when the government wants to boost sales of Government Motors autos, they just parade a Transportation official in front of a microphone to spread fear and doom, sending buyers to the Government branded motors.

LaHood should resign and the Obama Administration should be held accountable for this blatant attempt to drive business away from a “competitor”.

And followed up with:

Others Now Asking if Obama Is Bullying Toyota

Since we posted on this subject, it seems others are starting to question Obama’s motives in the hard line attacks on Toyota. (See Why The Government Should Not Run Private Corporations).

The Obama Administration has proven to be anything but reluctant in sticking it’s collective noses into areas where they have a vested interest. Always to the detriment of their “competition”.

AFP Reports:

CHICAGO — The US transportation chief’s public rebukes of Toyota’s handling of a massive safety recall have raised eyebrows, given the US government’s major stake in rivals General Motors and Chrysler.

“The optics are terrible because — and this is what happens when a government owns a company – the two companies that are going to gain the most out of this are General Motors and Chrysler,” said Peter Morici, a professor at the University of Maryland’s business school.

Return the companies to the private sector and let them stand or fall on their own. Or call Ford to find out how to run a car company.

And with the findings today, each and every member of the Democratic Congress that excoriated the Chairman of Toyota, belittled him and blamed his cars for deaths and accidents now should be forced to but a Toyota as reparations to the beleaguered company.

Perhaps Toyota will return the favor and file a lawsuit against these pompous Americans to restore honor to Toyota. Obama and Peloisi acted horribly in affixing blame without knowing the facts.

But that IS the Obama pattern.

  1. Agree 100%, Tom.
When folks are running from Chryco and GM….what can you do to steer them away from the Competition (namely Toyota)??
Oh yeah — invent a safety problem with the latter. We got gov’t loans to repay!!! Can you help a brother out??
