Obamas Disconnect With American Blacks

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. In a post earlier today,we displayed a picture of President Obama bowing to the Emperor of Japan. It is, indeed, a sad day when the symbolic head of the United States bows to foreign leaders. The message is clear: America bows to you.

The symbolic shame from the event aside, I feel a bit of sorrow and anger for my Black friends. I honestly cannot name even one that would bow to anyone. The sad chapter in American history that saw their ancestors enslaved are lessons that are not easily forgotten, nor should they ever be forgotten.

But today’s bow is a front and center reminder that Barack Obama is not a descendant of slaves. His Kenyan father was of noble birth. His Mother’s people were wealthy.

The lessons of servitude and cruelty were not relevant to a young Barry Obama. They obviously were not permanently ingrained in his genetic makeup. Because his family history is one of privilege.

It is hard to say which symbolic thought I find more disgusting. An American President bowing to a foreign leader, or a Black man bowing to another man.

Both are equally offensive.

If you’re not black and poor, then you’re not black?

That is not what I said. Wealth has nothing to do with it.

Black Americans who are descended from slaves (which are the majority) are not likely to ever again bow down to anyone. It is called pride.

Obama’s heritage is not one of unspeakable indignation that slaves suffered, rather, one of privilege.

I am saying the disconnect is undeniable.

Nothing is more conservative than a republican wanting to get their majority back. And nothing is more liberal than a republican WITH a majority.
