Barack Obama said “We won!”. And while Virginia Republicans would not be as crass as President Obama, res ipsa loquitur. And the Republican victory in Virginia last November was both a landslide and a mandate. The people have spoken. Democrats are out of touch and the conservative message was well received and reflected by the voters.
And because Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli is doing the job the people elected him to do, Democrats Donald McEachin and Jennifer McClellan pull out the race card.
From the Times Dispatch:
In a noon news conference, Sen. A. Donald McEachin, D-Henrico, charged that Cuccinelli is advancing “a right wing agenda” with the blessing of Gov. Bob McDonnell, and said the attorney general is pursuing a fight with the federal government over other issues, among them chasing down predatory lenders.
And when the issue of state’s rights arose, so did this state’s scarred racial past.
Asked by a reporter about any parallels between Virginia’s opposition to desegregation decades ago and its current fight against health care reform, Del. Jennifer L. McClellan, D-Richmond, said “absolutely.“
“If you ask them, a lot of people today are embarrassed by the fact that 50 years ago we engaged in Massive Resistance and regret that we did that, and realize that was a huge waste of time that had a detrimental impact on a whole generation of children who were prevented from going to school,“ she said.
Please. Give me a break!
The accusations that have been floated by some on the left that Attorney General Cuccinelli is somehow a racist for opposing a bill pushed by Obama could also be said of Democrats attacking Cuccinelli. And both would be wrong.
If Cuccinelli was not pushing a “right wing agenda” that includes less federal intervention, smaller government and lower taxes, he would not be doing what he was elected in a landslide to do. The constant drone from the left wing media that Cuccinelli was “right wing” appealed to voters, tired of the left wing takeover by Obama. Instead of driving voters away from Cuccinellt, it drove them to vote for the Conservative message he brought.
All this race baiting and sour grapes from the leftists is nothing more than the usual Liberal tactic to change the subject because they know they are wrong to support this massive government intrusion into the lives of Virginians. Your support of these Socialistic policies is the very reason you lost Virginia. The voters demanded protection from the Progressive agenda in Washington.
And if there was anything truly reformative about this legislation, you would be spending your time lauding the benefits. Since there is nothing but debt for our children and higher costs for us, as well as lost jobs, you are relegated not just to obscurity, but to obstructionism.
Advice to Democrats: Grow up and stop being the Virginia party of No!
