Time To Reform Health Care Reform

It is no secret. What passed yesterday was not Health Care Reform. Most of the real reform bits were taken out to placate various factions within the Democratic Party. What is left is an absolutely worthless piece of legislation that does nothing to reform the high cost of medical care, but it does allow Obama and Pelosi to claim they passed Health Care Reform.

Ok, fine. We have a bill passed that you call reform. But we still have the same problem. In fact, the problems have more than likely grown, because the bill was gutted and smothered in sugar that will add to the deficit.

Americans are not stupid. The bill raises taxes for 10 years to pay for 6 years of benefits.

If I were offered a car lease where I pay my payment for four years before I pick up the car, I really didn’t save gas and upkeep for those years.

But on paper, I can divide 6 years worth of expenses over 10 years, so it sounds cheaper. But I had to make other arrangements for four years, right?

How can the CBO not count the extra you will spend between now and 2014, when the benefits kick in, as part of the cost of the bill?

So, don’t let Pelosi’s plastic smile fool you. Or the Obama high fives.

We still have not passed Health Care Reform, only a sham masquerading as reform.

But that is the way Obama and the Progressives roll.

So far we have:

  • A bailout that has not worked for AIG, GM or most of the banks.
  • A stimulus package that has only stimulated the National Debt.
  • A jobs bill that has done nothing to stem the actual unemployment rate.
  • And now we get Health Care Reform that reforms nothing.

Are you seeing the pattern yet?

The Democrats dragged the dead carcass of a gutted, maimed, spayed AND neutered bill that has been emaciated, decimated, pulverized and perverted across the finish line. How proud they are!

Perhaps we should dub this the “Weekend at Bernie’s” bill.

Because it sure is nothing like it set out to be.

Not to mention that the Democrats two big government “success stories” – Medicare and Social Security – that they frequently pointed to during debate as “acheivements” – are broke.

    Yay. Lucky us.
