I was hoping to pick up some 9mm rounds to do a bit of target practice this weekend, so I went by the local Walmart to make my purchase.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not a fan of Wally World. In fact, I avoid it like the plague. But they have some good prices for Ammo and I usually find what I need.
But the cupboards are bare!
It looked like a grocery store from The Walking Dead that had been picked clean by the non-walkers. And to be honest, knowing Wally World’s left leaning ways, my first thought was “liberal bastards are going to stop selling Ammo“.
But this time, I don’t think it is a conspiracy to deprive Americans of low cost rounds. You see, there were two Wally Workers restocking the case as fast as they could.
“Got any 9mm in there?”, I asked, referring to the shopping cart they were using to hold the replenishment supplies.
“Nope”, the male worker said. “Guy in line over there got the last two packs”.
“We got some 22 today”, said his female helper. “And a few 30-06”, she offered.
“I don’t think they will fit my 9”, I said.
“Well, we haven’t had any 22’s for several days.”, she said.
Don’t you hate those high caliber salespeople at Walmart? Almost made me want to get a 22.
I am seriously thinking about getting a re-loader. One of the best bits of advice I can offer for those who, like me, love shooting targets, is gather up your brass. Even if you have no intention or desire to roll your own rounds, most expect the prices to go up to the point reloading is a lot cheaper. I read somewhere that it takes over a year for the average shooter to break even after investing in a re loader, press, accurate scales and calipers and the various tools of the trade. Look for reloading costs to also rise as the left tries to disarm America.
And I hope it doesn’t come down to a choice between sinkers for fishing or bullets for protection.
But the fact that Walmart has had such a run on Ammo is a bit disconcerting.
