What The Tea Party Has Done To Polling Data by Steven Brodie Tucker

Two hours ago, around noon (est), the Washington Post published its’ latest poll on how the American People feel about the direction of our nation, and who we trust the most with our highest priorities. It seems to me that the Washington Post, along with conservative talk radio, blogs, and probably everyone else in American Media is utterly incapable of understanding modern polling data.

What’s all the confusion about?

Well, according to this poll, the Democrats are trusted by more Americans than Republicans are with the important issues of the day. Ever so strangely, however, it appears that despite this overwhelming trust advantage, the American People don’t seem interested in voting for Democrats in the 2014 elections.

What is the Washington Post to make of this?

I am registered Republican in the State of Virginia. I don’t trust even a tenth of our “Republican” elected officials in this State, because they are liars, Corporatists, and Neo-Statists when they get to Richmond or Washington D.C.; they only pretend to be Libertarians, Constitutionalists, and Conservatives when they are on the campaign trail.

I don’t trust the Republican Party. Do you? It is safe to assume that Democrats, with near uniformity, trust their fellow Democrats; and it is safe to assume that Democrats, with near uniformity do not trust the Republican Party. Piling on to this distrust are registered Republicans, Libertarians, and Independents, who also do not trust the Republican Party.

Look at who is running the Republican Party. Almost every powerful Republican leader in Congress is being challenged by Tea Party candidates in primaries. In Richmond, just last Saturday, there were protests against Eric Canter, one of the most influential Republicans in the House of Representatives.

Sadly, the Republican Party looks at these polls and thinks, “We’ve got to move further left!”

No, my tin-foil-hat-wearing masterminds, you don’t. The reason why you have lower scores when it comes to trust is because your own constituency doesn’t trust you! Does anyone actually think that John McCain lost because this country believed in the values and ideas of Barack Obama? No. John McCain lost because Conservatives, Constitutionalists, and Libertarians aren’t going to vote for an unbalanced, neo-statist for President, regardless of his stellar war record, or his outstanding Vice-Presidential running mate.

Can you imagine if John McCain had won? We’d be in more wars than the media would be able to decry. And we’d probably be spending even more of our national treasure than we are under President Obama.

So, the Tea Party has had an impact on the polls, but the media (conservative and liberal) has simply failed to understand the data. Only if the Republican Party moves back to the center, to Constitutional integrity, Libertarian ideals, and Conservative principles will anyone trust the Republican Party.

Take a look at this poll. Look at the percentages for “Neither Equally”. That’s the Tea Party: A consistent 11 to 17 percent of this country! We’re the ones the Republican Party better focus on appealing to; or else, 4 to 7 million Americans who would have voted for a conservative libertarian candidate, will stay at home, and watch as this country elects one Obama after another.
