Wikileaks: Does Obama Have a Hidden Agenda in Allowing Classified Leaks?

Is this another right wing conspiracy theory, or is there something to the fact that President Obama is allowing classified materials to be released on the internet?

You be the judge.

Wikileaks Provocateur-in-Chief Julian Assange has telegraphed his intentions for weeks, yet the Obama Administration did nothing. Nada. Zilch.

So, some of the documents were released this week, with more dribbling out almost every day.

Obama’s reaction? White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs says Obama’s “not happy” with them.

Hardly a scathing rebuke of Assange.

But exactly what damage is being done?

Well, if you are Hillary Clinton, this is a true nightmare. And the damage to her credibility is enormous. How can anyone ever again negotiate with someone who ordered diplomats to spy on UN officials and collect biometric and credit card information? At what point does leverage become blackmail?

  • Consider, the less than flattering comments about German chancellor, Angela Merkel, who  was characterized in the cables as “risk averse and rarely creative”.
  • Mrs. Clinton’s counterpart in Germany, Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle, was dismissed as having little power.
  • Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi of Italy was described as “feckless” and “vain”.
  • President Nicolas Sarkozy of France was called thin-skinned.

Ouch!

Boy, if Hillary had any inkling to challenge President Obama for the Democratic nomination in 2012, this really comes as a horrible blow to those aspirations.

In fact, calls for her resignation are already making the rounds.

Well, what else is being released that could possibly help Obama?

According to the Daily Telegraph:

But in an interview published in Forbes magazine, Assange said his next set of secret documents focused on a large US bank. “It will give a true and representative insight into how banks behave at the executive level in a way that will stimulate investigations and reforms,” Assange told the magazine, adding: “For this, there’s only one similar example. It’s like the Enron emails.”

Assange also said he was sitting on a haul of damaging data on pharmaceutical, finance and energy companies.

He had information on everything from BP to an Albanian oil firm that attempted to sabotage competitors’ wells, he said. “You could call it the ecosystem of corruption,” he said.

Well, let’s see.

Banks and finance? Check

Pharmaceutical companies. Check.

Energy companies? Check. And mate. If you are President Obama.

Conspiracy or coincidence? That is something you have to decide for yourself. But these are nothing short of a perfect storm of coincidences, if they are coincidental.

But what can Obama do about the website Wikileaks? He can’t just shut it down without warning, can he?

Well, according to The Hill, the Department of Homeland Security, through Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has seized dozens of domain names over the past few days for bootleg Music and Movies!

ICE appears to be targeting sites that help Internet users download copyrighted music, as well as sites that sell bootleg goods, such as fake designer handbags.

The sites are replaced with a note from the government: “This domain named has been seized by ICE, Homeland Security Investigations.”

For instance, borntrade.com, 51607.com, and amoyhy.com have each been seized.

One of the site owners told TorrentFreak that his site was shut down without any notice or warning.

Due Process be damned.

So, is Copyright infringement more serious than leaking Classified Documents?

It would seem so.

But Wikileaks is in Sweden, right? Obama has no power there.

Well, not exactly. The site www.wikileaks.se is located in Sweden, but a massive attack (called a Distributed Denial of Service attack, or DDOS) has forced Wikileaks to seek alternate servers right here in the US of A.

Amazon’s servers are hosting www.wikileaks.org. The site is registered with Dynadot.com and the name servers are everydns.net. All of these are American companies. Dynadot hides the identity of anyone who signs up for their service and uses only the name of the customer. The address and any phone numbers are those of Dynadot. Apparently there is very little checking done to verify the name used is real. In this case, John Shipton is listed as the contact, but no other information is available.

Wikileaks has been on the short end of a lawsuit before. In Bank Julius Baer vs. Wikileaks the Judge ordered Dynadot to shut down Wikileaks, and they were for a short time, but the judge vacated the ruling due to some First Amendment concerns.

The information for which Wikileaks was taken to court involved Bank Julius Baer’s work in making offshore money anonymous.

But this a case of disseminating classified materials. If the government can swoop in and grab a site selling rip off purses, they should have no problem with any first amendment issues involving stolen classified materials.

Apparently, Obama does not want to shut this down.

He has a difficult battle ahead what with the Republican resistance and re-election to worry about.

Besides, Hillary was just getting in the way. Let’s move on to more regulation after the nasty details come out about the other banks, financial institutions, big pharma and big oil.

Who needs a Democratic majority to grab power. Information is power and Wikileaks has gigabytes of the stuff.

We hear Julian Assange is being considered for a post in the next Obama Administration. Propaganda Czar sounds good, right?

Congressman Peter King has called for Obama to designate the Wikileaks founder a terrorist which would go a long way into drying up the money streaming in from America’s haters. Banks would no longer be able to accept donations and PayPal would be forced to stop handing money to this cause.

So, why is Obama sandbagging?
