One of the leading theses of the new (filmed in Richmond) Lincoln movie is that: “Lincoln” centers on the president’s attempt to push the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution (the one prohibiting slavery and involuntary servitude) through the House of Representatives. His party, the Republicans, control the House, but don’t have the necessary two-thirds majority […]

The Mechanicsville TEA Party held an essay contest for local kids. The winners receive a scholarship. I have to say I am both amazed and encouraged by the knowledge and understanding these kids show. It is a credit to Hanover County as well as the parents of the writers of these essays. Virginia Right! says Congratulations to all […]

This report from The Hill is intriguing. Here’s the leading candidates: State Rep. Alecia Webb-Edgington (R) has Davis’s blessing, and has also secured the support of former Sen. Jim Bunning (R), who represented Kentucky in Congress for more than two decades. Squaring off with Webb-Edgington is Thomas Massie, an elected county official backed by Paul, […]

I hinted that there was news on the Appellate Defender’s Office front. Now I can openly discuss it! Senator Chap Petersen of Fairfax has introduced a budget amendment (here it is!) to reestablish an Appellate Defender’s Office in this Commonwealth. It’s a tiny office at first, not even one quarter the size of the criminal […]

George Allen has picked up a pretty big endorsement. Over 100 members of Virginia TEA Party Patriot groups, a strong group of conservatives working to restore the country to fiscal sanity, have endorsed George Allen’s bit for the US Senate. While several of the candidates have TEA Party connections, Allen is the one to gain […]

Last week I blogged on Libya and commented that there would surely be mission creep to a wider war; The result could be mission creep – boots on the ground to enforce the ICC indictment (Compare this to the use of force – which I opposed – to capture Manual Noreiga in Panana. At least […]

I blogged yesterday about the ICC and Libya. I made this comment in this posting: NATO cannot bind the US to war without its consent; that requires at the VERY LEAST the consent of Congress or an authorization form Congress for the President to go to war to arrest Gaddafi. I was not suspecting this: […]
