LOOKS LIKE I LEFT TOO EARLY! BISHOP JACKSON WINS LG NOMINATION! MAYBE last minute DIRTY TRICKS!

I left the Virginia GOP convention because I had voted (for Bishop Jackson for the fourth time!) and I had neglected my family enough and did not choose to see the acceptance speech. But I missed the excitement with the allegations that the Snyder campaign had made up endorsements of key people to try to [...]

UNOFFICIAL: CHEERING in GABORONE (and BOTSWANA) TONIGHT! AMOS takes SILVER!

Looks like Botswana will have a medal in the Olympics for the first time ever!  It’s unofficial but Nijel Amos won silver in the men’s 800.  Alas, the Americans took fourth and fifth (Symmonds). I was not able to find any Botswana media yet on the win.  Give it a day or two.  But I [...]

WILL BOTSWANA WIN THAT FIRST MEDAL? FEEL the ANXIETY and EXCITEMENT!

Here’s a website from a Botswana newspaper about the five Olympic athletes carrying the hopes of a nation in the 2012 Games in London.  Apparently the boxer Oteng Oteng is also a potential medalist, too.  He boxes in the flyweight division.  (I was a 98 lb wrestler so I understand the light division!)  One highlight: [...]

Blogger Summit at US Capitol with Va Congressman Robert Hurt

I have been playing catch up on several fronts and have yet to find the time to put down a few thoughts on a gathering last week at the US Capitol put together by Virginia Congressman Robert Hurt. I have met Congressman Hurt once or twice before, but only briefly. And I believe the first [...]

IS IRVING (TX) NEXT TO GET OUT OF ICLEI?!

This activist, Robert Kecseg, in Irving, TX had the right idea!  He went to staff first, was calm, did not call people names, mentioned the political aims of ICLEI, made the point is that a city council cannot be joined with a organization like ICLEI with a narrow political agenda. Kecseg cited the quote about [...]

Read What the CPAC Bloggers are Saying This Week!

Well, here we are less than a week from CPAC 2011, and the excitement is in the air. Especially in the Blogosphere. Alcohol will be involved, of that I am sure. Last year, several CPAC bloggers were accused of BWI (Blogging While Intoxicated), but none were ever convicted. Between now and next Thursday morning may [...]

GOOD LIBERTARIAN NEWS FROM AN UNUSUAL PLACE: SWEDEN

The recent Swedish elections did not register on my radar this time.  I tend to skeptical of governance and elections in Scandinavia as socialists tend to dominate.  However, my excitement grew as I read this Spectator (UK) article on how the conservatives won reelection: This week Fredrik Reinfeldt, a bald and deeply dull 45-year-old who [...]
