I have contended for some time that ICLEI has a foreign policy. The Constitution forbids states and local governments from conducting foreign policy goals. And as the Lord Jesus once said, “…for by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” (Matthew 12:37 [KJV]) Here it is from ICLEI USA’s own blog! (Michael Schmitz is the Executive [...]

This is a wonderful development! My legal article, still seeking publication in a law journal, claiming that ICLEI membership is unconstitutional as local invasion of the exclusive Federal power to conduct foreign policy, was cited by my hero Hal Shurtleff before a legislative committee in the Granite State! Last year there was a bill – [...]

Welcome to the Watcher’s Council, a blogging group consisting of some of the most incisive blogs in the ‘sphere, and the longest running group of its kind in existence. Every week, the members nominate two posts each, one written by themselves and one written by someone from outside the group for consideration by the whole [...]

The Council has spoken, the votes have been cast, and the results are in for this week’s Watcher’s Council match up. There’s an old saying that murder will out.And to combine it with another frequent heard saying of our own time, many times it’s not the crime, it’s the cover up that gets you [...]

I was and am elated when Senator Rand Paul ran these ads in Florida and West Virginia about their senator’s support for foreign aid for Egypt, Libya and Pakistan! I would not wait: No aid to any nation except maybe Israel! Well, Senator Manchin didn’t like his ad very much: Manchin said many senators thought [...]

By most measures, Paul Ryan is a great pick for Mitt Romney’s VP running mate. There are few in Washington that truly comprehend the US Budget and none of them are elected. This pick will give the Romney Campaign an opportunity to sidestep the distractions from the Obama Campaign and keep the message focused on [...]

Once again, ICLEI nailed itself in one of its own documents: This Delegation Briefing (here’s the copy from ICLEI website) for the what appeared to have failed (Praise God!) Rio+20 Summit has several things where ICLEI is clearly conducting foreign policy on behalf of its members: ICLEI Rio+20 preparations and advocacy ICLEI has decided to [...]

There is a fair amount of wailing and gnashing of teeth on the Arizona immigrant decision and some of the teeth are mine! But there is some useful supportive language in favor of it being unconstitutional for municipalities and local governments to conduct foreign policy. And that means only one thing: ICLEI is indeed unconstitutional [...]

In a column in the Montgomery (AL) Advertiser, two research fellows at the (you guessed it) Southern Poverty Law Center have raised the ultimate fear of not being a member of ICLEI: No grant money for sustainability! (Of course blame John Birch and call it names!) SB 477 isn’t just pointless; it’s actually stupid. If [...]

I like Senator Marco Rubio. He’s a rising star in the GOP. And Senator Rubio is still better than either President Obama or VP Biden. But his speech on foreign policy was terrible. It could have been written by Senator Lindsey Graham. That is no compliment. Here’s the text and some highlights, or maybe lowlights: [...]

I am very upset (although I enjoyed the two Santorum wins in Alabama and Mississippi – if it holds up Ron Paul got FOUR PERCENT in both states. So WHAT’S THE PROBLEM? Don’t misunderstand. I love the South. I bleed for the South. (Yes, I love cheese grits. NC barbeque! Turnip greens with vinegar! Lima [...]

I was asked at my church to help focus prayer at the altar for Iranian Pastor Youssef Naderkhani, sentenced to death in Iran for converting to Christianity. It is a great honor to do that! So, while at church, I had an idea: The Iranian leadership probably will not listen to most of the leaders [...]

Thanks to the Humble Libertarian (I am a libertarian but I am not humble!) I got this story on a former RP staffer, Eric Dondero, who does not support him for President but worked for Paul from 1997 to 2003. Dondero is NO friend and in fact ran against Paul in 2008. Here’s the posting [...]

The news is certainly better than it has ever been about Ron Paul. But our answer has to be to keep working to convince the doubters and skeptics. I am concerned that there is a definite smear campaign against RP. This article with high billing on RedState (which once banned any comment favoring RP in [...]

HonestPresident2012 came up with this video on intervention. It’s great. Please watch it and use the stuff. The only thing I would add is that this does not justify terrorism but we have a duty to try to find ways to lower the risk of terrorism and having an on-interventionist foreign policy is one of [...]

This article from Real Clear Politics is revealing: But in a race that has seen as many shifting variables as this one, Paul retains the potential to surprise everyone — especially if Iowa’s particularly inclement weather is a factor on caucus night. “If there is a snowstorm, Paul wins,” said one state Republican insider. The [...]

Everybody cheered former Speaker Newt Gingrich when he said, “Timothy McVeigh succeeded,” as justification for the Patriot Act in Tuesday’s debate on national security and foreign policy. Although Ron Paul’s answer was great – we can fight crime if we have a police state but it is not worth it. Alas, few will remember Paul’s [...]
